I nodded. “I’m gonna go get him. You guys get our girl back.”

Joon’s grip on my hand tightened. “You shouldn’t go by yourself.”

I gave him a reassuring squeeze. “I’ll be okay,” I promised. “You just worry about getting our omega back.”

He looked unsure, but I pulled him in for a kiss, trying to make him feel better.

“Want this?” Marcus asked, gesturing to the gun.

I shook my head. “You know I prefer my knife.”

He nodded before turning towards the direction of Eva, and I started stalking off towards my prey.

There was no way Jason was getting away alive. My knife flicked out from my side, and I opened the blade.

I stalked after him. There was one other guy who made me slightly nervous, but Jason trailed behind him, so I’d be able to snatch him into the trees and take care of him.

I kept my feet light and my mind off any potential things I could be stepping in. Neither seemed wise to where I was, which was ideal.

Eventually, not far from the house, Jason fell behind, seeming uninterested in going somewhere with so many gunshots. Soon, he was far enough back that I was able to snatch him out of line with his friend, who didn’t even turn around.

Jason looked shocked. Good. My knife was pressed to his throat, a little bead of blood already dripping from it.

“Hey, coglione, let’s have a little chat, hm?”

We watchedCameo stride towards the trees, keeping a distance so he wouldn’t be spotted quickly. Though I felt some worry for my packmate, my focus was on Eva. Every move closer to her let me feel her more and more—her rage, her hurt, her fear. I’ve done my best to keep it all close to the chest, but her distress was becoming too much to bear. I needed to find her, to make her feel safe again.

“Let’s go,” I said, jolting the other two into step with me.

Joon’s unease was loud in my head as well. The constant pain of my mates weighed on my chest, making me feel helpless.

But I pushed through—it was the only way. Once we found her, it would all stop, and we’d be whole again. We just had to make it to this building.

To our luck, it seemed like whoever was standing outside was one of the men we saw earlier, so no one was there.

I brandished the gun Mason gave us, holding it down by my side. When we approached, the door was locked, and we didn’t have Cameo to open it.

“What now?” Joon asked, his distress once more pressing on my mind.

I tried to tamp it down so I could focus. My first thought was to shoot it, like they do in movies, but actually thinking about it made me realize it wouldn’t work.

“I have this,” Indi said, pulling out a metal credit card. “I don’t know if it’s that kind of door, but it's worth a shot, right?”

“It seems like our only option.”

I stepped aside as Indi went to the door. The space between the frame and the door was at least big enough to fit the card. He jostled it around, trying to slide it under the mechanism. After a minute or two had passed, I considered going back for Cameo. The revenge could wait until after our omega was safe, but everyone seemed surprised when the mechanism sprang to life, and the door fell open.

Once the surprise was over, I launched down the stairs, the other two in tow.

It was a simple, single-cement room with bedrolls littering the floor. My eyes scanned them until I found a single curled-up body on one against the wall, pink hair drifting behind her.

“Eva!” I said, running towards her.

She bolted up at the sound of my voice, turning towards us. “Marcus,” she said, almost a whisper as tears streamed down her face.

When I reached her, I pulled her close, and she wrapped around me. “I was so scared!” she cried into my shoulder.

My hand rubbed up and down her back. “I know, but it’s okay, we’re here now.”
