King swung his gaze back to Tameria and asked, “Your family doesn’t even know what you do for a living?”
Tameria just stared at him.“My family doesn’t care what I do as long as I bring the money home.”She shrugged then said, “I told them I had a bakery job and I gave them three quarters of what I brought home.I lied to keep most of my paycheck and they never verified it, so I kept my mouth shut.Working admin meant I stayed out of the front office and just submitted data into a computer.So no one saw me, and no one reported back to Lester that I was working for the police.”She snorted, “And I sure as hell wasn’t gonna tell them.”
“Can I ask you something?”
Turning her head, she saw Stitches had asked this as he came back to the table.“Sure,” she replied with a nod.
“Do they take so much money from you that you...um, have to dress like that?”he asked.
“Peering down at the oversized and somewhat dirty look she wore, she raised her head up.Then she chuckled.“I dress like a street kid.On purpose.”
He smiled at her.“Ok...I’m sorry I didn’t mean....”
She laughed.“It’s a disguise really.Not that I own anything expensive.No...that isn’t possible in my life.But all of this was to make it so no one notices me while I followed Sarah recently.”
Stitches smiled at her then got a ping on his phone.After he read the text, he turned and ran down the hall toward the Infirmary.
King frowned and looked after him, then he got up and walked down the hall as well.
Tameria turned her head to ask Andy, “What is happening?”
Andy’s eyes filled with tears.“Stitches is the doctor here.Like you heard earlier, my mother struck again.She and grandpa broke in here while everyone was busy protecting this place.She pistol-whipped King’s son Train and I hope Train isn’t worse off than we thought.”
Tameria shook her head.“I knew she was a horrible person but that’s just too much.
Then they all heard shouting coming from the Infirmary.Everyone got up and rushed down the hall.
Chapter Five
When they got to thedoorway they could all see Train thrashing around on the bed while being held down by Commando and King.
Gunner and Grizzly stepped up and assisted to hold him down.Stitches tried bracing his shoulder as he growled at Train, “Be still, you damn fool.You’re tearing your stitches out.You want to bleed out before the brothers can bring Gina back to you?”
Train glared at him and snarled.“If they bring her back they’re bringing back a corpse.Lester has a contract out on her and you fucking know that!”
“Be still son,” King commanded him from the end of the bed.“We sent out trackers and they found her.They’ll bring her home but you gotta stop fighting us.”
