Her greedy hands pulled at his suit jacket, and he removed his hands long enough to shrug it off. She unbuttoned his shirt. It felt like they were in a fever dream, all this pent-up need that had been building between them finally finding its release. Eyden didn’t want it to stop.
She tore his shirt open. Her hands scorched his bare chest like fire. His mouth moved to her jaw, down her neck, his tongue flicking over her pulse, drawing a moan from her as her hand tugged on his belt.
Fire sparked along every touch, every desperate kiss. If this really was pure insanity, he never wanted to be sane again.
Eyden’s hand moved up and down her thigh, wanting to touch her as he’d done all those weeks ago. She whimpered as his fingers edged on, skating across her inner thigh. His other hand travelled to bunch up the other side of her dress, but when his hand moved up her thigh there, he felt cold leather against his skin.
Drawing back barely, he glanced at her bare thighs. A dagger was sheathed around her right leg. Surprised, Eyden noticed Lora smirking. “I don’t know what that says about me,” Eyden said, his voice humming with delight, “but this is doing it for me.”
“You don’t want to take it off?” Lora’s voice had turned husky. She’d never looked more beautiful than in this moment.
Leaning in, his mouth was barely a few inches from hers. He could feel the heat between them, the raw desire. He didn’t want to deny any part of it. “I want to take off everything except that,” he said, looking her straight in the eyes. “Do you know how to use it?”
Lora pulled back slightly, and he immediately craved the lost contact. “Rhay started teaching me.”
“Rhay. And how is that going?”
Lora pulled the dagger from its sheath and put more distance between them—as much as she could with Eyden still standing between her legs.
“I did learn a trick. Curious?” Lora asked, a bit of uncertainty carrying her voice.
Eyden nodded. He’d say yes to anything right now. Lora held the dagger in front of herself, and the smirk on her lips was the only warning he got before it caught on fire. Although he felt the heat blow in his face, he didn’t mind. The delight on her face at her own powers warmed his heart in an almost painful way.
“Did Rhay teach you that too?” He didn’t like the thought of Rhay becoming the person she could rely on, she couldtrust.
“Not exactly.” Lora searched his gaze. “Are you jealous?” she teased.
Yes.It was a simple answer, but he didn’t say it. “I don’t think you want me to answer that.”
Lora nodded as if she understood the game they were playing even though they’d never set any rules. Right now—this moment—wasn’t about questioning. “I don’t let him dothis,if that helps,” she whispered, glancing down to where her legs were placed on either side of him.
Eyden grinned, not hiding the relief he felt. He moved forward, closing the remaining distance between them again. “And what isthis?”
Lora’s answering smile was pure temptation. “A heated moment.” She hooked her legs around his waist, and the impulse to take her right then was maddening.
“That’s a pretty hot move, by the way,” he said, his chin pointing at the still-burning dagger.
Lora extinguished the flames. “Literally, I know.”
“Literally and figuratively,” Eyden replied, giving her a lazy grin that was laced with lust.
“You don’t have to compliment me,” Lora said, placing the dagger next to them on the table. “I was the one who dragged you to this room.”
“Who says I’m complimenting you to get you into bed?” His right hand went to her thigh again while his other hand clasped her cheek.
Lora flushed, biting her lip before she replied, “Well, there is no bed here, so you won’t have any luck with that.”
Tracing her lips with his finger, Eyden stepped closer so that she could feel him through their clothes, feel how much he wanted this. “I don’t need a bed.”
Lora’s lips barely touched his as she rasped, “Neither do I.”
Their restraint broke, and Eyden grabbed her dress, bunching it up to her waist to give himself the access he wanted. His lips trailed down her neck again. Lora’s hands explored his chest before moving to the band of his trousers again.
“Tell me you want this,” Eyden said as he nibbled at her earlobe. His heart was pounding, the blood flowing to a different part of his body.
Lora’s breathing came in fast as she slipped her hand into his trousers. He groaned against her skin, the contact of her hand on him sending sparks through his body.
“I want this,” Lora whispered. It sounded more like a confession to herself. It was fucking time she stopped denying their attraction. “Just as much as you do.” Her hand moved down the length of him, pleasure ringing through him. He’d thought of this so often, but nothing came close to the real deal. Nothing,no one, came close to Lora.
