Jake slid down my body and settled in by my hip, trailing one hand slowly down my abs. “You really are beautiful,” he said.

“So are you,mi estrella.”

I spread my legs, hissing when the bitter cold of the lube made contact. Jake mouthedsorry, bending to kiss the head of my cock in consolation. I closed my eyes and became lost to the sensations. It really had been too long since we’d connected like this. Too fucking long. My skin was burning from pent-up desire, my need for him reaching an unbearable level. Jake’s frantic movements and desperate sounds were the only sign he wasn’t far behind. Before long, he was seated between my legs and pressing into my body.

I ground my teeth through the burn, welcoming it just as I welcomed the feel of Jake’s blazing touch. Our unmatched chemistry burned hotter than ever before, making me feel not only alive again but steady and sure. With only a few touches, Jake had once again made everything better.

He moved slowly at first, his lips savoring me with every caress. I never stopped touching him in return, trying to show him just how much he meant to me. As our lust grew, our control lessened, each movement becoming more demanding. Jake’s steady rocking became more urgent until I all but shoved him off me so I could roll to my knees. I didn’t need the visual connection as much as I needed the physical, and Jake could drive into me so much deeper from this position, just how I liked it. Jake quickly repositioned, looping one arm around my shoulders from behind. The headboard crashed against the wall with every thrust, but neither of us stopped, frenzied to reach the high. My vision faded each time he nailed that spot inside me, making me clench the sheets and gasp. I barely registered his lips on my shoulder as he demanded, “Go with me, Rey.”

I surrendered to him, dropping my head to the mattress and allowing that pure, sweet bliss to wash over me.

Jake trembled against my back, panting heavily as his own orgasm claimed him. We fell to the mattress together, breathless and boneless, unable to move. He held me for several long seconds, catching his breath before sliding off to lie on his side. I barely had the strength to turn my head to look at him. His blue eyes were incredible this close.

“Will you tell me what it means?” he asked after a minute.

“What what means?” I asked.

“What you call me. Estrella or something.”

I smiled and shoved the pillow under me so I could see him more clearly.

“I’m surprised you haven’t just looked it up by now.”

He looked away. “I wanted to,” he said, “but I also wanted to hear it from you, so I waited.”

“Aww. My Jakey does have a romantic heart,” I said, teasingly. Jake chuckled and smacked my arm weakly. “’Mi estrella’means ‘my star.’”

He furrowed his brows. “My star?”

I couldn’t look away from him as I explained, “Remember me telling you how I was looking at constellations before I boarded the boat?” Jake nodded. “Well, it’s kinda lame, but I made a wish on a star the night I met you, that our date would go well. Notthiswell,” I quickly added. “I really wasn’t looking for this, but I just…” I shrugged. “I was in a bad place, and I think I knew deep down I needed a friend. I just wanted someone I could spend time with and not feel so… I don’t know.”

“Alone,” he offered.

“Yeah. And I’ve felt like you’ve seen me from that very first night.”

His expression softened and he leaned in to kiss me. “Same here.”

Jake looked like he wanted to say something else but hesitated. “What?” I asked.

He waited a moment before saying, “I think there’s someone else who might have been an answer to that wish too. Someone else who needs to know we see him,” he said softly. “Long term, I mean.”

I blinked in surprise. Was I hearing him right?

Pushing up on my elbows, I studied Jake carefully as I held my breath. “What are you saying?” My voice was barely audible, even to my own ears.

Jake lifted a hand, running the back of his fingers against my cheek as he smiled. “I know you’ve thought about adopting Harrison, Rey. I’m saying I have, too,” he said. There was no fear or hesitation in his eyes, only honest clarity. He was dead serious. “It still scares me, and there will always be a chance he could be one father less if anything happened to me… but I want a future that has both of you in it, even if that’s selfish of me.”

All the air left my lungs in a rush. “You want to adop—" I couldn’t even finish the word. “Oh fuck, baby. That isn’t selfish at all. That’s amazing.”

“Don’t get too excited,” he said quickly. “I don’t even know if it’s a possibility since we’re gay and unmarried. The laws here are pretty lax, but—”

“You’ve already looked into it?” I asked.

He gave a little shrug. “A little. Mostly for you though when I realized how much he meant to you.” A sad smile touched his lips, making my heart ache. “But I want to do ittogether.”

I knew he was right. There was still a chance things might not work in our favor, but the mere fact that Jake had evenconsideredHarrison as part of our future meant everything to me. I pulled him to me and kissed him hard.

“Gracias, mi estrella. Te amo.”

“I think I’m catching on. I know those words,” Jake said with a grin. “I love you too.”
