Sophie’s expression transitioned from amusement to concern.
“About what? You guys are okay, right?”
“Yes, we’re great, actually, but I wonder sometimes if that will change. Things are so good right now.”
“It won’t change. He’s really into you and you’re really into him. How could it change?”
“A lot of what we have is centered around sex. It’sreallygood sex, but what if that’s all we have? What if you take that away and there’s nothing there?”
“Maddie, it’s not just sex. He cares about you. It was his idea for you to be here because he wanted you safe. The man is gorgeous and can havesexwith any woman he wants, but you two are together all the time. You hang out and do things. “Yeah, you’re right. It’s just after dealing with Richard, I’m afraid to be in that type of situation again. I have my moments,” I said with a grin.
“Oh, trust me, I have my moments too. How could I not? And Carlos is not Richard. Not even in the least. So stop worrying and just enjoy the ride.”

“You’re so nasty.” Sophie laughed and shook her head.
“Act like you’re not right there with me. That baby you’re carrying is proof of how much you enjoyed the ride.”
“I won’t dispute that, but now is definitely not the time to be discussing it.”
