I followed him from The Prescott Agency to a small house in Hudson Heights. I already knew he lived alone, so after he parked and got out, I parked a few houses down and did the same. I walked through the houses that lined his street and made my way to his back door. Looking through the kitchen window, I noticed the living room was empty, so I picked the lock and slipped inside, closing the door behind me.

The place was quiet except for a TV coming from the master bedroom. I had already been in his place a few days ago, so I was familiar with my surroundings.

That was one of the first things Story taught me. Most people got caught over dumb shit because it wasn’t thought out. They just acted on impulse. I had to admit, the first time I laid eyes on him, I wanted to send a bullet through his head and end it, but I needed to make sure I handled it in a way that didn't lead back to me. Not just that, I also wanted him to see my face before he took his last breath.

When I reached the master bedroom, I stood outside the door with my gun in my hand, listening for a minute before I pushed it open.

“What’s up, Harvey?”

His back was to me, so my voice startled him and he turned defensively, which allowed me the chance to rock the shit outta him.

He took it like a man though and smirked at me. “I knew you’d eventually show up.”

“Word, then I hope you got your shit in order since you ’bout to take your last breath.”

My expression was stone as I glared at him. All I could think about was him putting his hands on Sophie and that could have cost us our child.

He tried his best to stay hard, but I saw his fear. He was about to die and knew it. That was when his pussy ass broke down.

“Hey, maybe we can work something out. I was just doing my job. It wasn't personal,” he begged.

That only made shit worse for him. There was nothing to work out. He’d hurt Sophie, so I would be killing him. The details didn’t matter to me.

“Nah, ain't shit to work out. You put your hands on my girl for a pussy ass muthafucker like Prescott, but don’t worry, he’ll be joining you soon.”

“Let’s just…”

One shot and his body hit the floor. I emptied the remainder of my clip into his body before I left his house. The second I was in the car again, I dialed Los.

“It’s done.”

“You want it cleaned up?”

“Nah, I want to send a message. When he finds out, he’ll know I’m working my way to him.”

“Aight, bet. I’ll meet you at your place later.”

Los ended the call and I headed home. We still had a lot of shit to do, but I was one kill closer to bringing my baby home.

Chapter 53

Maddie

“Are you really going to pout the entire time we’re here?” I asked as soon as Sophie ended her call with Trooper.

“I’m not pouting. I’d just rather him be here with me,” she whined.

I rolled my eyes. The combination of Sophie being in love with Trooper and pregnant made me want to choke her on the low. I loved my girl, but lord she was a pain right now.

“You are pouting, but I understand. I was the same way when I first fell for Sinclair. I’m still that way now,” Alana announced as she walked out of the back door carrying drinks for the three of us.

She placed the tray on the table between the lounge chairs Sophie and I were stretched out on before she lifted one of the glasses and sipped the bright pink frosted liquid that filled it.

She then sat down on the foot of Sophie’s chair and smiled at her.

“That’s hard to believe, seeing as how you were able to walk away and let him go to prison foryourhusband.”

“You don’t have to understand it, Sophie, and I will never expect you to. But your approval doesn’t matter to me. As long as Sinclair and I are alright, that’s all I need.”
