“Because you’re afraid you might jinks things?” asked Steel, smiling.

“Of course,” Jackson replied, grinning. “I’m pretty sure there’ll be time after his trial to decide.”

“What about your brothers? Are you going to tell them what’s happening?”

“Yes, but I’ll wait till Penn submits our evidence regarding our Las Vegas trip. I want to alert them before our dear uncle finds out his complaint against us has been dismissed since I expect he’ll pull another stunt…and that’ll be one of desperation. So, get together with Dylon and Groose and come up with a plan I can put into place as soon as Penn tells me he’s submitting Willow’s statement. And make sure my mother has plenty of protection.”

“Will do,” Steel said. “I’ve been exploring the idea of building a safe room…some place for the pups, and maybe David, Fionn, Kieran…and of course, Alex, could stay if we are under attack. It would be a perfect place for your mom also.”

“Hmm…I’ll think about it. The biggest problem I see about it is I doubt they’ll agree to go there because they won’t want to leave their mates. But maybe I could convince my mother, especially if I asked her to protect the pups.”

“Yeah, the mate issue has been a stumbling block I haven’t figured out…yet.”

“Overall, I like the idea so go ahead with your plan…it’s better to have one and never need it, than to need it and not have one.”

“Agreed.” Rising, Steel bent down so his lips were nearly touching Jackson’s, then rubbing his thumb over his mate’s lower lip, murmured, “The first time I saw you, I knew these beautiful lips were meant for me.”

“Ditto,” Jackson whispered. “I love you babe.”

“And me, you.” Steel gave his mate another kiss before saying, “See you later,mo chroí.”

Smiling, Jackson picked up his phone. It was time to call Hunter.

Opening the front door, Alex was eager to meet an Oracle, having read about them during his school days. But none of them ever prepared him for what he saw. Gulping at the beauty of the woman standing in front of him, Alex froze, unsure about what to do next.

“Hello, Alex, I am very pleased to finally meet you,” Oracle said in her soft, honeyed voice.

“Alex! You can’t just open a door…not at least until I’m…” Glenn came to an abrupt stop behind his mate, his eyes widened as he stared at Oracle.

“Glenn, how are you?” asked Oracle, her gaze shifting to him.

“How do you know who I am?” asked Alex, leaning back against his mate.

“She’s an Oracle,” murmured Glenn. “She knows everything.”

Smiling, Oracle said, “Not everything…only what the Fates tell me. May I come in?”

“Oh my gods, yes,” Alex said, stepping to the side and pulling his mate along with him. “I’m sorry. It’s just I never met an Oracle…I mean I know they exist…I mean you exist…oh my, I’m messing this all up.”

Glancing down at his mate, Glenn saw Alex’s embarrassment reflected on his face. Wrapping an arm around his mate’s waist, he tucked Alex against his body, then looking back at Oracle, said, “Sorry, we weren’t expecting…”

“Oh shit!” Sawyer muttered, joining his mates at the door.

“Sawyer, so nice to see you again,” Oracle said, smiling at him.

“Uhmm…yeah, nice to see you too.” Then grasping the edge of the door, he slammed it shut, leaving Oracle outside before turning to his mates. “We need to talk.”

“What did you do that for?” asked Glenn.

“Sawyer, that’s an Oracle out there,” Alex hissed. “Why are you being so rude?”

“There are things I must tell you first,” Sawyer said, panic clearly evident in his voice. “Please!”

“Do you know why Oracle is here?” asked Glenn.

Nodding, Sawyer muttered, “At least I think so.”
