Slipping it out, he groaned when he saw who it was. Hesitating for a moment, Glenn considered letting it go to voice mail before rejecting it as a dick move. It was time to man up. Accepting the call, he growled, “Dylon.”
“Did you find them?”
“Yeah…they’re with me.”
“Hopefully on your way here.”
“Nope…uhm…there’s been a new development.”
Remaining quiet, Dylon waited for Glenn to continue but when nothing more was forthcoming, asked, “Well, are you gonna tell me or do I have to guess?”
Clearing his throat, Glenn muttered, “They’re my mates.” Silence was the only response he heard. Checking to make sure the call hadn’t been dropped, he repeated it louder.
“I heard you the first time but I was trying to figure out whether you’re ashamed Sawyer and Alex are your mates or ashamed you deliberately didn’t mention it earlier when we spoke.”
“Fuck off. First of all, I didn’t know Alex was my mate…”
“But you knew Sawyer was,” Dylon guessed.
Rubbing his hand over his face, Glenn didn’t respond since anything he said would only dig the hole deeper. Ignoring Dylon’s last comment, he said, “You can tell Jackson that Sawyer and Alex are safe.”
“Yeah, you keep saying that, but right now I’m finding it a little bit hard to trust you. Exactly where are they?”
“With me…and very safe.”
“Stop the bullshit, Glenn. You know what I’m asking…which you’re refusing to answer. You promised me you’d escort them here. Did you even tell Sawyer to call Jackson?”
“I…he will…when he wakes up.”
Snorting, Dylon muttered, “Good thing I won’t be holding my breath.”
Biting back his retort, Glenn paused to get his negative reaction to Dylon under control. Whether he liked it or not, the man was family now, something he could’ve done without. But he wasn’t going to make Sawyer choose between his mate and his cousins, so reigning in his dislike of Dylon was what he’d have to do. “Someone was snooping around Sawyer’s motorhome; the scent was too old to tell what kind of shifter it was.”
Closing his eyes, Dylon pinched the bridge of his nose. Being told his cousin was mated to Willow’s son would probably be fine with Jackson but learning there might be an unknown shifter after Sawyer and Alex would force him to consider it a threat against the Blackwood Pack. He’d want to know everything, but Dylon doubted Glenn would be forthcoming with details. “Any guesses who it could be?”
“Not at this time. The man The Collector hired to seize Alex is in Mexico and I have a team down there keeping an eye on him, so it may be someone he hired to help him.”
“Fine…for now. I’ll let Jackson know. However, hewillexpect a call from Sawyer so I’d appreciate it if it happens sooner than later.”
“As I said, he’s asleep but I willaskhim to call when he wakes up. Whether he does or not is up to him. I won’t force my mates to do anything…understand?” growled Glenn.
“Perfectly,” Dylon snapped back, eager to end the call. At some point, they’d have to clear the air, but it could wait.
“Now, if that’s all…” Glenn began, but realized that Dylon had disconnected their call. “Motherfucker!” He didn’t recall Dylon being such a shit when he was a student in his class, but maybe that was because his big honcho daddy was upstairs on the High Council’s executive floor. Now, out from under daddy’s watchful eye, Glenn was seeing the real Dylon. He’d bet anything, though, he didn’t talk to his Alpha that way. Then remembering the strength Dylon possessed, maybe he did. Refusing to waste any more time on him, Glenn continued on to the garage.

“Sawyer has two mates…won’t Mac be surprised?”
Looking up from his phone, Dylon found Cody standing in the doorway between the sitting room and their bedroom. “He won’t be the only one,” he murmured. “Is Jake okay?”
Walking over to the bed, Cody ran his hand down one of his mate’s cheek. “Both our children are changed and back asleep. Why don’t you like Glenn?”
“I don’t dislike him…much.” Dylon smirked, taking Cody’s hand and pulling him down on his lap before wrapping his arms around his mate. “It’s a reaction to the vibe I’m picking up about how he feels about me…maybe it has to do with my gift from the Fates. Don’t forget, he knew me before I got it and he’s trying to figure out how it happened. I saw it in his eyes in New York. I’m a puzzle he hasn’t been able to solve…and that rankles him.”
“He’s gonna wonder more when Oracle shows up to give Sawyer his gift from the Fates.”
“Maybe, but there’s no guarantee your cousin will get one.”
