“Yes, not long…no more than an hour although if her wolf appears to be tiring, I’ll cut it short.”
Nodding, Jackson said, “I’ll send some enforcers with you.”
“Okay,” Mac said, “we’ll be waiting for them out front in ten minutes.” Getting up, he paused, wondering why they’d need the extra protection on Blackwood Pack land. Then he asked, “Jackson, any place I should avoid with Aunt Hope?”
“Nope. Just erring on the side of caution. If Mom has a problem, send one of the enforcers back and I’ll come.”
“Will do.”
Jackson waited for his cousin to leave the room before picking up his phone and sending a message.

Closing the door to Ghost’s office, Glenn walked over to the desk and sat down. Drumming his fingers on the arm of the chair, he contemplated the best way to gain Dylon’s cooperation. He was asking a lot but, all things considered, the Blackwood Pack was the best place for Kevin’s parents. Now he’d just have to be convincing without disclosing who Kevin was. Pulling out his phone, Glenn scrolled his contacts, finding the one needed. Tapping the screen, he sucked in his breath, hoping Dylon would at least be curious enough to take the call.
“Didn’t think I was going to hear from you so soon,” Dylon said, leaning back in his desk chair.
“Same here.”
“So what changed your mind?” asked Dylon.
“I need a favor. It has to do with The Collector.”
Sitting upright, Dylon cautiously said, “Okay…you got my attention.”
Pausing, Glenn rubbed his forehead, quickly going over his decision to involve the Blackwood Pack. Then, unable to come up with an alternative, he began. “A piece of information recently came into my possession concerning a possible target The Collector is interested in.”
“Who is it?”
“A rare shifter…but I can’t tell you more except that his parents are in danger. Right now, they’re safe, but I don’t believe they will be for very much longer.”
“And I fit into this how?” asked Dylon.
“I need a place to stash them…where no one would think to look for them. Since the woman is a horse shifter and the man is a narwhal shifter…”
“You’re thinking a wolf pack will be perfect,” Dylon growled.
“Yeah, that’s the favor I need.”
“First of all, you know as well as I do, only the Alpha can make that decision. So why didn’t you call Jackson Blackwood?” asked Dylon. “And second, I need a lot more information than what you’ve given me…and so will the Alpha. You’ve already admitted they’re in danger so what guarantee can you give me that the danger won’t follow them here?”
“Truthfully? None.” Ignoring Dylon’s snort, Glenn continued. “But after what I saw in New York, I know the Blackwood Pack will be able to handle it.”
“What do you mean?”
“You know. Why do you think I let my mother go with you?” asked Glenn. “Because I knew she’d be safe from The Collector…and that was what was important to me. Right now, I need to get this couple to a safe place, otherwise they’ll be tortured…and most likely die if The Collector gets to them first.”
In his gut, Dylon knew Glenn was telling the truth, especially after what Willow had gone through. She survived because her animal was stronger than her captives’, but a horse and a narwhal could never beat the kind of scum The Collector hired. Sighing, he asked, “What do you need me to do?
Chapter 20
Bursting through Logan’s studio door, Quin shouted Kieran’s name, searching the room for his friend.
A startled Logan looked up from the plan he was drawing. “He’s not here but he should be back in a minute. He went to get Queenie’s food.”
“Squawk, beat your meat, beat your meat, squawk.”
Giggling, Quin walked slowly over to the bird. Holding out his arm, he waited with bated breath, hoping Queenie would finally jump onto it. Smiling softly, he crooned, “C’mere, pretty baby…did I ever tell you how beautiful you are? Well you are…pretty, pretty baby.”
