“And you thought I was crazy when I said Kevin’s a unicorn,” Smokey muttered.
“I’m not. The likelihood of one pack having all of them is…”
“Next to impossible,” Ghost said.
“Wait a minute…your mate Sawyer has a brother who’s mated to a Blackwood Pack member?” exclaimed Smokey.
“Yes…and my mother is currently staying there.”
“No fuckin’ way!” Ghost leaned back in his chair, staring at his friend.
“Yeah…not only that but the shifter with superhuman strength? I know him. His name’s Dylon and his father is the High Council Vice-Chair. The kid was in one of my classes when I taught there, and before you ask, no, he didn’t possess that power when I knew him.”
“You think Kevin’s parents will be safe there?” asked Ghost.
“I do…plus, I doubt anyone would even think of looking for them in a wolf pack.”
“You have a point there,” Ghost said.
“What about you, Smokey?”
“How do you plan on doing this? Wolf packs are notoriously suspicious of shifters other than other wolf shifters, let alone when it comes to having strangers on their land.”
“Thought you’d never ask.” Glenn grinned. “After my mother was rescued, she insisted we all have breakfast together. During the meal, Cody, his brother Zane and Dylon…who’s Cody’s mate…invited my mother to stay with their pack. I opposed it but my mother accepted. In the end, we agreed to share info about The Collector since they also wanted to find him. Not that I intend to, but they may come up with something useful…though it’s very unlikely.”
“That’s all fine and dandy but how does sharing information translate into letting Kevin’s parents stay there?” asked Ghost.
“Leave that to me,” Glenn said. “After I make the arrangements, I want you and Smokey to collect Kevin’sparents and take them to the Blackwood Pack. In the meantime, while I make the call, begin going over the contacts and info Smokey has about Kevin.”
“Use my office, Snow White,” said Ghost. “It’s down the hall, last door on the left.”

“Hey, Mac,” Jackson said, looking at the man knocking on his door. “You psychic? I was just about to call you.”
Grinning, Mac walked in. “Don’t think so. Is it about what happened last night with Aunt Hope?”
“No…it’s about Sawyer, but Mom is amazing, isn’t she? My mother sure pulled a fast one on all of us…not that I’m complaining.”
“Me neither. I never complain when a patient surprises me,” Mac said, smiling. “So what’s up with my twin? Wants to stay longer?”
“Ahh…have you spoken with him in the last day or so?”
“No…he sent me a message to let me know he’s all right,” Checking his link with Sawyer, Mac didn’t sense anything unusual. “Why are you asking? Did he contact you?”
“No, but I got a call from Hunter who told me Sawyer found his mate.”
Stunned, Mac stared at his cousin, unable to respond as his mind tried to process it. He felt a sharp pain in his chest—distressed that his twin had chosen someone else to share his good news. “I’m…gee…I guess congratulations are in order.”
Sensing Mac’s unhappiness over the news, Jackson said, “Sawyer asked Hunt for advice on how to protect Alex…that’s his mate’s name.”
“Oh…well, that makes sense, I guess…after all, he’s mated.” Still agitated, Mac searched for a reason why his brother didn’t confide in him. It was the first time, at least that he could remember, that Sawyer hadn’t. And while Mac could intellectually understand why his twin chose Hunter, it didn’t ease the hurt he felt. Swallowing his disappointment, he asked, “Did Hunt help him?”
Ignoring the question, Jackson said, “Sawyer’s mate is a dual shifter. According to Sawyer, Alex can shift into two different animals. Have you ever heard of that?”
Mac’s jaw dropped, then, regaining his composure, he said, “Actually, I have. It was covered in one of my classes in medical school. It’s very rare…I think there is only one other documented case…a very long time ago. It’s caused by a genetic mutation...or at least that was the thinking at the time.”
“Yeah…well now you can understand why your brother contacted Hunt.”
