“He was so easy.” Willow grinned.

“Ah, ha, you admit it.”

“My lips are sealed,” Willow said, smirking. “Moving on. I think the next step should be talking to Jackson. I did mention what I wanted to do when I arrived, but before I did anything, I wanted to talk it over with you since it might put you and your sons in danger again.”

“As long as Josiah is alive, my sons are in danger and now that includes my grandpups. I think the sooner it’s done, the better I’ll feel.”

“Good, then. I’ll talk to Jackson today.”

“Now that’s settled…how’s Glenn?”

“He’s fine…finally took a vacation which was long overdue.”

“That’s great. Where did he go?”

“Right now, he’s down in LA with Smokey and Ghost…” Thinking back to her recent conversation with her son, Willow was sure her son was keeping something from her, but a night’s sleep hadn’t produced any answers.

“What’s the matter with Glenn?” asked Hope.

Startled, Willow looked at her friend, chuckling when she saw Hope smiling at her. “You know too much about me. Glenn called me yesterday to see how I was.”

“And…”

“On the surface, everything appeared fine, but he’s up to something. I haven’t figured it out yet, but I will.”

Hope burst out laughing. “Hasn’t Glenn learned yet it’s impossible to keep secrets from you.”

“Obviously not.”

Getting serious, Hope asked, “Do you think it has anything to do with the man who ordered your kidnapping?”

“Maybe…I know he is going after him even though he’s claiming he’s on ‘vacation’ but…”

“Being with Smokey and Ghost says otherwise.”

“Hmm, it does…but there’s something else going on,” Willow mused.

“And it’s driving you crazy.” Hope smirked.

Laughing, Willow swatted her friend’s arm. “You’re impossible. You know too damn much about me.”

“I could say the same about you, too.”

“Yeah, I guess you could…we’ve been through a lot together, haven’t we?”

“That’s one way of putting it,” Hope said, smiling. “But we made it through which is a cause for celebration. How about I make my special cupcakes this afternoon? Then, we can head outside with Sofia, have something to drink and celebrate…all by ourselves.”

“You got yourself a deal.”

“Knock, knock,” Mac said, entering the room. “What’s this about a deal? Does it have to do with any more surprises you have for me, Aunt Hope?”

Ignoring her nephew’s question, Hope smiled. “It was a nice surprise, though.”

“Yes…yes it was. I’m always happy when a patient makes progress…even if they keep it a secret.” Pulling over a chair, Mac sat down, facing his aunt. “So how are you doing this morning?”

Giving Hope’s hand a quick squeeze, Willow said, “If it’s all right, I’m going to find Jackson.”

“Yes, please. We can talk later,” Hope replied.
