“He could be lyin’,” Ghost murmured. “You’re hiding your scent so maybe he doesn’t know what you are.”
“Yeah, he thinks I’m human, but he’s not lying when he gave up the name. His scent was clear of deceit unlike before.”
“Maybe Riley can tell us.”
Pulling out his phone from his pocket, Glenn sent a quick message to Riley, then said, “Let’s see what else he’s willing to tell us.”

Checking the GPS on his phone, Luka realized he was less than sixty miles from where his brother asked to meet. His initial suspicions after receiving Loki’s text quickly dissipated when he found his brother had spotted the target. Relieved, Luka wasted no time jumping into his truck and heading north. He owed his brother big time; after returning his rental boat his target had disappeared.
Cursing, he’d spent last night and into the morning searching, trying to find him by sight or scent but with no luck. He then decided to have lunch at another oceanfront restaurant, hoping to spot his mark again. If he lucked out, he wasn’t going to waste his time trying anything fancy; instead, it’d be quick with a knife to the heart. But instead of eating a leisurely lunch, he was now driving tothe location his brother gave him, eager to get this job done.
The money he’d make from this job alone would help him and Loki expand their business by hiring other qualified assassins. Their goal was to become the “go to” company when wealthy people had problems that needed to disappear. Smiling at the thought, Luka sped up, anxious to see his brother again.

“Who’s the target?” Glenn asked, repeating his question. Seeing his prisoner press his lips together, he knew an answer would not be forthcoming. Smirking, he knew exactly what would loosen Loki’s tongue. “Fine, don’t tell me…I’m sure Luka will be more willing to tell me once he’s here. Whaddya think will work best? Breaking more of your bones or maybe breaking his bones?”
“I got other things I can do, boss,” Smokey offered. “I’m sure Loki would enjoy learning how to get answers out of someone. I just don’t know if his brother will though.”
Ghost broke into the conversation. “My man said Luka will be here shortly.”
“Thanks…hear that? If I don’t have the answers to my questions before your brother arrives, then I’m sure it won’t take too much persuading to get them from Luka,” Glenn growled.
“You’re full of it.”
“Maybe…but are you willing to take the gamble on whether I’m lying?”
Staring at Glenn’s glowing eyes, Loki realized he was very wrong regarding what this man was, causing fear torise in his gut. Reluctant to risk his brother’s life he blurted out, “Hamilton…Gabriel Hamilton.”
When Glenn heard his friend’s given name, his eyes darted to Smokey before returning to Loki. “Why him?”
“Don’t know,” growled Loki. “Our clients are not exactly forthcoming with that kind of information.”
“He’s here,” Ghost murmured.
“Give the signal,” ordered Glenn.
Realizing his brother was outside, Loki opened his mouth, to alert Luka to the trap. But before he could issue a sound, a gag was shoved into his mouth, thwarting his attempt. Panicking, he tried to rock the chair, hoping to tip it over.
Narrowing his eyes, Glenn jerked his head at Smokey, giving him a signal to stop it. Then just as Smokey’s hands circled Loki’s neck to quiet him, a knock sounded at the door.
“Loki, open up, it’s Luka.”
Stealthily moving to one side of the front door across from Ghost, Glenn gave a quick nod to his friend when he was in place.
Opening the door, Ghost kept partially hidden behind it. “In there,” he said, pointing to Loki.
“Hey bro…what the fuck?” Ignoring everything, Luka rushed towards his big brother, but never reached him, falling to the floor, unconscious.
Holding a wooden club, Ghost stood over Luka, looking down at him. “Crude, but effective.”
“Smokey, cuff him. Ghost, outside.” Turning, Glenn headed outside to Luka’s car. It was a long shot, but he hoped to find the reason Xavier Lee needed to hire an assassin to kill Smokey.
“Hey, wait up.”
Swirling around, Glenn’s eyes glowed in anger. “What?”
