He laughs. “Jimmy would never fire me. Not for that.”
“Don’t tempt me,mon amour.”
His eyes soften as he touches my cheek. “You sound sexy speaking French for me.”
“It’s a sexy language and I love it when you speak it.”
“You’re making me want to do more of it. I haven’t in so long.”
“But you’re safe now.”
“I am.”
I steal another kiss. “Okay, I’m leaving before I can’t.”
Colson laughs. “See you soon, lover.”
I make my way to the front of the club again, searching the crowd for the drummer. He’s watching me, and he gives me a slight nod in acknowledgment. He knows.
That’s right. He’s mine.
Leaning against the wall, I blow out a breath. All I have to do now is get through the next hour or so, and then I can get my hands on Colson again and spend the rest of the night making love to him.
I can’t wait.
After the band leaves, Colson finally appears wearing jeans and a thick sweater. He kept his hair in a messy bun, and I am so here for that. When it’s wet it has a slight wave to it that I like, but he’s gorgeous no matter what he does.
He smiles, tossing his bag over his shoulder. “Ready?”
Nodding, I offer my arm. “So ready.”
He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a wad of cash, handing it to me. “Made more tonight than I made last month in total.”
“Wow.” I flip through the cash. “Rock stars know how to party.”
“They sure do. It was worth giving up a Sunday night.” He glances at me. “Just in time for rent.”
“Rent?”
“I have an apartment, remember?”
“Oh, yeah, but you’re not going back there.”
“I still have a lease.”
“For how long?”
He tilts his head to the side. “Three months, I think.”
“We’ll just break the lease. Pay whatever the penalty is.”
We make it to the parking lot, but Colson stops walking. It takes me a second to realize he’s not with me, and when I turn to face him, his eyes are narrowed, his arms crossed over his chest.
“What did I do wrong?”
“Only made about a million assumptions. If you want me to move in, don’t you think you should at least ask nicely? Or am I still being held hostage?”
Grinning, I bow my head slightly. “My mistake. Will you please move in with me, Colson?”
