“It got started when you said how much you love giving Colin a blow job!” Nate told him, giggling.

“Again, what you said is more about sensual feelings than sexual ones,” David observed.

“Forhimmaybe,” Colin said, turning to lay his head on Joshua’s lap. “It’s pretty damned sexual forme!”

“It creates an intense level of intimacy, having your man’s dick in your mouth,” Nate added, his voice thoughtful. “I mean justthink! All you’d have to do is bitedownand...” He grinned up at David and winked.

“Jesus!!” David spouted, dumping Nate off his lap, tumbling him to the grassy shoreline while Colin and Joshua rolled on the ground screaming with laughter.

“Watch out, Davy!” Colin said, still quaking with mirth. “You’re apt to lose some!”

“Ahhh,” Nate snorted with a comical leer. “He can spare it.”

“I’ll never feel safe getting a blow job from you again,” David said, laughing as he swatted Nate’s arm. “Talk about a terrifying thought!”

“Your dick is safe with me,” Nate assured him.

David arched an eyebrow, a pained scowl on his face. “It damned wellbetterbe,” he muttered, then laughed and kissed the top of Nate’s head.

“And the topic for today isblow jobs!” Joshua said, still chuckling.

Colin scrambled to his feet and held out his hand to Joshua. “Take a walk with me.”

“Off to the woods to practice what you preach?” Nate said with a smirk, watching as Colin pulled Joshua to his feet.

“Wouldn’tyoulike to know!” Colin said, gently swatting the back of Nate’s head.

David got to his feet and pulled Nate up with him. “We’re going to ride into town,” he said moving toward the cabin with Nate’s hand in his. “Need some supplies, and it’s our turn.”

Colin watched as they wandered toward the cabin hand in hand, then laced his fingers with Joshua’s and moved toward the trail that encircled their small lake.

“Did you straighten Nate out?”

“Oh, I suppose so. I gave him a talking-to and he seemed OK afterward so...” Colin gave a small shrug.

“I hope his tip turns out to be something valuable.”

“Yeah,” Colin muttered. “Me too.”

Joshua pulled him to a halt, then reached up to slide his fingers through Colin’s sandy hair. “Look up,” he said in a half-whisper and Colin lifted his face to the sky.

Above their heads the canopy of trees created a secluded, enclosed environment which allowed dancing flickers of sunlight to sparkle between the restless leaves and onto their upturned faces.

Colin stared for a moment, then smiled at his husband. “Trying to cheer me up?”

“Trying to let the trees cheer you up.”

Colin cupped Joshua’s face between both palms and kissed him. Then he drew in a deep breath and pressed his face to Joshua’s shoulder, holding him close. “Youcheer me up,” he murmured against his husband’s T-shirt, then he turned his face into Joshua’s neck, kissing the smooth olive skin beneath his lips. “As long as I have you, the rest of the world can’t touch me.”

Joshua laughed and took Colin’s hand, leading him once again down the trail. “All evidence to the contrary.”

Colin stopped and stared down at the ground, his face furrowed in a frown then he lifted his head and stared into Joshua’s eyes, pressing Joshua’s hand to his heart. “Please don’t ever doubt how much peace and healing you bring to my life.” He lifted Joshua’s hand and pressed it against his cheek. “You are a song that sings in my heart, Joshua. You’re most beautiful song I’ve ever heard. And as long as that song goes on,” He pressed Joshua’s fingers to his lips and kissed them, “I go on.”

Chapter 10

On the Prowl

The following Monday, Joshua opened his eyes to find Colin bending over him, already dressed in the dark suit that signaled he was due in court. “Mm,” Joshua murmured, reaching to grab his lapel. “Damn, you are hot! If looking studly is any kind of yardstick in court today, you’re sure to get a conviction!”
