“I’m fine, thank you.” I smile as we break the hug. I can tell just by looking at her that she’s fine too.
“So, erm, yeah!” she jams her hands together.
“Yeah, we should go now.” I nod.
“Sure.”
The cabin is just a few miles away from here, so we choose to trek. She engages me in small talks as we walk to the cabin. I desperately want to ask her if she has a boyfriend, but I don’t think that will be a great idea. I don’t want to jeopardize the whole ‘getting-to-know-each-other’ slowly with any rash question. I’m sure she would talk about it in future conversations. There is no rush; it’s fine if we start as just friends.
“Okay! So, here we are!” she announces as she pulls the cabin’s door open.
“Ladies, first!” I gesture towards the entrance.
“Urgh! I would go in first even if you don’t say that!” she smirks at me as she walks in, her ass swinging from left to right.
“Well, I am a gentleman,” I shrug, walking in after her.
“Mm, sure you are.” she turns around and taps my chest lightly.
I pray she’s opened to a relationship because I see myself growing more and more fond of her. It’s like a different force of attraction. It’s different from what I feel towards other ladies. I’m not sure she can sense it, but I’d love to be more than just friends with her.
Three hours later we decided that we have done enough for today. The cabin has a lot of work, but I’m sure it will make a great bed and breakfast. Her mom really bought a good place. I’m sure visitors would love it.
“Thank you so much for today,” Rose thanked me as we walk back to where she parked her car.
“Oh, it’s nothing. I’m glad I could help,” I smile.
“Aw,” she places her hand on her chest, and we both laughed. “Erm, yeah, I got to go. I’ll see you next week.”
“Sure,” I nod excitedly.
Rose walks to her car, and I watch her as she pulls the door open and starts the car. I wave her goodbye, watching her car speed off. I’ve not visited the city for a long time, but she makes me want to visit so badly. I would be busy when she comes back next week. Maybe I should take a week off work to help her with the BnB?
“Hmph hmph. Is she why the café is closed today?”
I turn around, it’s Tess – she’s one of those women that have turned down my proposal.
“Well, well,” I shrug, not willing to explain anything to her.
“She’s pretty. I like her,” Tess expresses with a nod as she walks to stand beside me.
“Yeah, I know she is,” I affirm.
“You like her, don’t you?” she flashes me a small glance.
“What’s not to like? She’s charming and friendly.”
“Mm,” she nods simultaneously.
I pause, trying to understand what’s happening. “Tess, you are not jealous, are you?” I ask, squeezing my eyebrows.
“No, of course not, why would I be? I can’t live in Crystal Mill forever; I told you already. My life is not here. We can’t be together. You should be with a woman who loves it here, I don’t,” Tess explains.
Exactly, I agree with her point. I should be with a woman who loves it here. Rose spoke about how much everything here entices her, especially the generosity of the few people she has met. I’m going to do all I can to assist her.
“So, go for her, okay? You are a good man, and you deserve a great woman,” she taps my arm gently.
“Thank you,” I reply with a friendly smile. I will follow my heart again this time, and I hope it’s the right decision.
