God forbid I tell her about Dominic. She’s going to drive down to Crystal Mill tomorrow and beg Dominic to propose to my single ass because I like him already.
Yes, I like him. I know I just met him, but a lot of his attributes touched my heart. It’s not just the hotness and that good looks, but his personality too. He seems gentle and easy-going. I admire men like that. They know how to treat a woman nicely. It’s one of my speculations; those are the things I look out for in a man. I think I’ve found a new purpose, and it’s making him mine.
A small happy smile forms on my face; I hum a song under my breath as I pull off my jacket and shoe.
“Yes, come in,” I respond to the small knock.
My mom walks inside, “So, what do you think about the cabin?”
“It’s beautiful. I see why you bought it,” I reply, excitedly.
“Mm, does that mean you are going to work on making it into a BnB?”
“Yes, absolutely!” I nod.
“Great.”
I continue to pull off the peel of clothes that I have on. Crystal Mill is a chilly place, but that does not matter at all.
“Erm, is there anything else you want to tell me?”
I turn around to face my mom when she asks that. “No,” I squeeze my forehead.
“Mm, I see. Get your dress ready because we have to leave early tomorrow for the wedding,” my mom informs me.
“Mom, I’m sorry, I don’t think I want to attend the wedding. I have to finish tidying the cabin. So, I’m going to Crystal Mill tomorrow.”
“What? Why the rush? You can always tidy the place up whenever. You should not miss Jasmine’s wedding. Rose, you have to attend.”
I don’t reply to her. I slip out of my dress and walk inside the bathroom to get a warm shower. She knows how much I hate attending wedding parties. Most times, I leave there depressed. Plus, Jasmine is not even my close friend. I can choose not to attend her wedding, and I choose not to. I don’t owe Jasmine my presence at her wedding. She does not have to attend mine either, no hard feelings; it’s a free world.
“Rose, you will attend Jasmine’s wedding!” my mom shouts towards the direction of the bathroom.
I won’t, but there’s no point arguing with her.
A few minutes later, I finished bathing, slipped into my nightwear, and dived on my bed. My face is still masked with a grin. Each thought of Dominic that crosses my head makes me smile. I can’t wait to see him again.
I pull out my jotter from my drawer and map out an outline of how and what I will do tomorrow. Dominic has agreed to help me, which means I will have only a few things to do. He is strong, and he would probably volunteer to do most of the hard tasks. My mom has promised to help me with the clearance and other documents too.
“So, out.”
I strike that out and continue with the other plans. I feel like my life is about to take a purposeful turn, and I am ready for it.
Five
Dominic
I’m standing in front of my café, waiting for Rose. She told me she would be around today, and I’ve agreed to help her. The café would be closed today because I’m sacrificing this time for my love life. I just hope all my effort won’t go to waste. I will be highly disappointed if I find out she has a boyfriend or is engaged to a man in the city. But I won’t know if I don’t do this.
A car parks in front of the café, and I recognize it as Rose’s car. A gentle smile edges across my lips as I walk to meet her.
“Hey,” she waves as she steps out of her car.
“Hi,” I wave back, unable to stop my eyes from roaming across her body.
She’s so stylish. I’m not a fashion guru, but I recognize a good dressing when I see one. I know it’s my second time seeing her; she has a perfect fashion sense from what I have noticed. I admire it. It makes her even more astonishing.
“How are you?” she asks as she pulls me into a small friendly hug.
