Before Sonya could make a move to help her daughter, the caterer, lighting technician and cameraman joined the attack on April.

Her jaw dropped and she froze as she realized the immensity of the situation. The entire crew. Everyone who worked on the movie was a vampire.

She felt cheated and duped. She never knew. Never saw it coming. She’d been so focused on Zwick that she hadn’t picked up on any of it.

“They keep coming in, one after another,” April shouted. She turned to face Betty who jumped at her. But the heavy sword swung with precision and lopped off the director’s head.“That’s a cut!”

Chapter 18

Sonya jumped in tohelp April, slaying Kitty and Lionel with relative ease. The larger vampires, men who’d hauled heavy equipment and built convincing sets; they proved harder to slay, resisting and fighting back with substantial abilities.

But one by one, April and Sonya fought them. April killed them with ease, not only with physical ease, but with no hesitation or doubt.

Sonya, having worked with these people for over a month, grieved every kill. They were people she knew, people she’d spent time with, people she’d liked. And now she was faced with the obligation of having to kill them.

“Sonya!”April called as Sonya faced the little old lady who’d repeatedly repaired Sonya’s Songbird costume.

The old woman smiled, her eyes red and her wrinkled hands shaking as she approached Sonya.

“Mrs.Crowe,” Sonya said with a touch of sadness. “Mrs.Crowe, it’s me. Songbird.”

The woman’s smile widened, her fangs now obvious.

“Sonya!”April cried again when Sonya remained still. The young woman jumped between the two.

“Such a pretty young thing,” the old woman said of April.

April wielded her sword. “Such a deadly young thing,” she corrected before taking the old woman down with a quick slash of her sword.

Meanwhile, Dr.Ang had his own slew of vampires jumping on him one after another. His sword sliced through the air, landing on a vampire’s neck, sometimes slicing off a limb, or at times driving through their belly. He moved fast, but as the vampires continued to arrive, his fatigue began to show.

“How many more do you think there are?”April said as a dozen new vampires arrived.

“If every cast member, crew and even the extras are vampires, we’ll be here all night.”

Breathless, April wiped the sweat from her brow. “I don’t know if I can keep this up much longer.”
