Oden told me, “Freya hadn’t reviewed those memories of Melanie’s but now she’s spitting mad. Mate really hates thatdark Witch.” I told them all, “Melanie does have the memories back, but she hasn’t thought about it because it’s in her rage box.”
Trevor scoffed, “Her and that damn box of rage.” Yuri said, “It’s deeply concerning that Melanie’s box of rage doesn’t concern you. The only reason she never killed you was because her friends were threatened. You are the center of that girl’s rage.” I said, “It’s amusing and a fallacy on your parts that none of you are worried ABOUT MINE!” I roared the last part.
I kicked the door off Trevor’s cell and slammed him down onto a table. I asked, “What happened with you and Melanie when she hunted you?” Francis called, “He won’t tell you.” I snorted, “I already said I hoped he wouldn’t.”
I pushed at Trevor but got nothing in my mind but could hear him screaming in pain. EJ asked, “Anything?” I growled, “No.” Francis offered, “Valdoma did something to his mental defenses every so often. It will totally wear off in two months, then you’ll see something every time you push at him. I can tell you what you want to know though.”
I rolled my eyes grumbling, “Could you be less helpful?” Gage said, “Seriously, how is he not the Gamma blood here?” Phil offered, “I bet he should be. He’s got more survival skills than that one.” Trevor snarled, “I HAVE ALPHA BLOOD!”
Francis laughed, “It’s good to hear the classics. Also, I’m seeing where Melanie learned how to dig in at people.” Gage shot back, “We never met her.” Phil agreed, “Sadly, we did not know her before you.”
Francis laughed, “I know but Trevor shouted that because the McAlister Beta’s pissed him off first. Melanie has the record of doing it the fastest though. As far as being helpful, I have nothing to do but talk. Yet these guys won’t talk much even though it’s all we have to do. Trevor just bemoans about Melanie and his dad.”
I snarled and punched Trevor, roaring, “SHE IS MINE!” Trevor spat out blood. Francis said, “Anyway, when we hunted Melanie, they were worried she’d actually win. So, they brought in more people. That was only known by that group and the Hunters.”
“There were Warlocks stationed with us too. The pack leadership at the time didn’t care how they won. Only that they did. The logic was that would finally humble Melanie. I tried to tell them they were wrong, given the numbers with us. Hell, the Warlocks tried to cast immobilizing spells on her, but they messed up.”
Yuri snorted, “Sure, that was it. Fifteen Warlocks and Witches messed up an immobilizing spell.” Francis shrugged, “It didn’t work so clearly, they did. Melanie left Trevor, Booker, and me for last. Robert was technically the last one, but she didn’t know that.”
Francis paused then admitted, “Actually Melanie still doesn’t know that. That spell was intense. That was also how they got her to the punishing fields. They made for damn sure she didn’t remember Robert or Ezra being there. She beat them both to blood pulp.”
Trevor asked, “How can you remember that? I was told.” Francis snorted, “She wasn’t as mad at me as she was with you. I didn’t get beat up as badly as you did. Only Robert did because she realized he was betraying Red Run. They barely got Melanie off him before she killed him.” Trevor growled at him while Francis merely shrugged.
I advised, “I would continue the story if I were you.” Oden grumbled, “The story that apparently not even mate knows the whole story of. I want their HEADS for this.” I agreed, “So do I. I want that list of Warlocks and Witches. Every single person who hurt Melanie will die.” Oden accepted that.
Francis took in my countenance and gulped before managing to continue the story though. “Sure. Melanie ambushed us from behind. She had mud painted on her face with leaves sticking to her. Mel had made a suit from grass somehow.”
“Oh, and she’d done something that messed up her scent too. It was weird and disconcerting because how can you hunt someone with a weird scent you don’t know? Melanie must have done it with the mud. It was the only explanation I could come up with.”
Francis was woefully wrong, but I wasn’t going to correct him. Francis prattled on, “Anyway, she broke my leg first, so I was out technically. It hurt so bad I wasn’t inclined to do anything else but watch. Melanie was always a good fighter…”
I interrupted, “Good? You think a good fighter can take down an Alpha, Beta, and Gamma in human and wolf form? That’s how far gone you people are?” Uncle Logan said, “That did sound rather insulting to your mate, Alexander.” I knew that.
Francis squeaked, “Ok, she’s phenomenal. I’ve never seen anyone with her fighting ability. It’s unnatural and uncanny. I was furious I had to fight her at the damn tournament, because Trevor was practically hiding ever since Caine nearly killed him.”
I snarled, “YOU FOUGHT MY MATE?!” Oden scoffed, “He could not even remotely offer our mate a good fight.” Francis winced, “Barely. I don’t think we can call it that really. Melanie beat me so fast it would have been embarrassing if she was anyone else. That’s not the point of the story though.”
I snarled, “I think the point is you all want me to torture you for decades to come.” Gage said, “Gage agrees. That’s totally the point.” Francis stammered, “No, the point was that day we hunted Melanie she was on a whole other level. It was nothing liked I’d ever seen.”
Trevor scoffed, “Melanie was just pissed the Hunters put her Witch friend in their sights through a scope.” Franciswhispered, “Dude, shut up!” Dalton roared, “WHAT?! YOU LET THOSE RAT HUNTING BATARDS PUT MY MATE IN THEIR SIGHTS!”
Francis said, “Yes, they did. Back to my story, Melanie was so fast.” Dalton interjected, “I don’t think I was done talking about someone POINTING a GUN at my mate.” Francis corrected, “Sniper rifle, actually. If we are being technical.” Which would’ve pissed Melanie off because she was a sniper herself.
Francis said, “Moving back to Melanie and the crazy person she was that day.” Dalton scoffed, “You cannot be serious. Is he serious?” Dylan cooed, “He is.” Dalton said, “On some level, Melanie knew Paige was her Luna. That pull and draw existed because Paige is MINE! Plus, they were friends. You can’t conceive why pointed a sniper rifle at my mate would upset Melanie so badly?”
Francis said, “Nothing happened to the Witch. Melanie overreacted by taking the hunt so personally. I mean for fuck’s sake, she clunked people’s heads together. Which, ok, honestly that method was quite comical.”
“If Ezra and Robert hadn’t come out of hiding, Melanie probably would have killed them both when she’d come up on them in private. She still managed to literally string Trevor up by his toes. He lost a few because of that.”
Holy shit. I asked, “How?” Oden chuckled, “You know how.” I was thinking I did since my Uncle Benjamin used specific knots to do that. Francis answered, “I don’t really know. Melanie used some weird knot tie thing.” Amusement shot around the bond from the members of my family that were here.
Francis continued, “They couldn’t figure out how to get it off in time because Melanie was literally a few steps away from killing Ezra and Robert.” He kept saying that thinking we’d give a shit.
“Honestly, she only didn’t because Ezra healed faster than she expected. We all did really. Ezra weakens his wolf, so I still don’t know how he managed to get up and hit her in the head. It was pretty clear after that none of us could beat her in a fair fight.”
“People still tried to beat her in fights, which amazed me. After the hunt, our pack leadership was going to lie and say Booker had finally found and defeated Melanie, which no one would’ve believed.” Trevor snorted, “No, they really wouldn’t.”
Francis ignored him. “But when they got back from taking Melanie to the punishing fields, the pack had found Trevor. Who was bemoaning about his toes and complaining about Melanie winning.” Trevor shouted, “She made me lose toes! Was I supposed to be happy?” Francis replied, “I’m not saying you should. They could’ve linked you the plan, but they didn’t. Their poor planning was always a problem.”
