Freya said, “They already knew.” Right… my wolf did just say that. I admitted, “Although, I’m not sure if it’s a full on relationship, because Lisa is getting in the way. So, it could just be a crush… or something… that’s a thing.”
I waved, “The point is… I want Lisa to stop getting in their way. The shrill annoying lady made Keaton miserable long enough. Well, that’s an assumption based on the two days I was around them… and I’m going with I’m right. Law of averages and all.” Freya snorted, “You hate that she made our honorary member miserable.” I really did.
Keith said, “Lisa did make Keaton miserable the whole time they were together.” I shivered, “Ick. He really should’ve dumped her then. Why didn’t he, if his own twin knew he was miserable? Surely, he did too…. I mean I heard they were on and off… so he did know on some level.”
I studied then asked, “Did you all try to break them up? Sometimes that makes couples feel like it’s them against the world and they stay together longer. Anyway…. no one needs a crazy ex.” Emmett asked, “How would you know? You don’t have one.”
I said, “Uhh I’ve read, watched a lot of tv and movies, and I’ve seen them. T had one when I was little. No one needs that in their life. I also have a crazy person who claimed I was their mate. So, while we didn’t date… he’s a crazy ex mate claimer… that seems like it’s on the same level.”
Emmett snorted, “Naturally, what was I thinking?” I said, “I really don’t know… but it’s not like you were around to hear how much the smelly wet dog claimed it was true. You’d have killed him… for sure.” Emma laughed.
Sierra groaned, “Mel.” I asked, “What? He would’ve. Finn might’ve for his scent alone.” Emmett agreed, “I definitely would’ve.” Finn chimed in, “You’ve nailed my essence. I would kill him for being a bad person and smelling terrible.”
I nodded, “I know… there’s no way an Alpha like you could stand for any of the things he did… he’d have been killed before my sixteenth birthday… but definitely then… if he’d made it to eighteen… I mean yeesh… then too. A Beta… with moralswould’ve also killed him… at well.. pick any point since I met him.”
Dylan ordered, “No sad topics!” Emmett changed the subject by asking, “Why did you develop a serum for the Hood?” I answered, “Xander has Hood allies, and Haley is good friends with your mom. I wanted to help. Plus, I like experiments. It was a win for everyone.”
I whispered, “Plus secret reasons.” Emmett asked, “Like what?” Sierra jumped in, “It’s a secret.” Freya chuckled, “Our honorary member.” Exactly! Emma said, “That's adorable. You do so many cute things for Alexander.”
I blushed. Keith said, “Well, this has been interesting.” I winked, “Don’t worry… I’ll totally avenge your twin… and since we are claiming killing her is off the table… I’ll break her nose.” Emmett groaned, “Come on.”
I asked, “Did you want me to break her back? That’s usually what I do.” Keith snickered while Frank Daniels slapped his leg, he laughed so hard. Emmett pursed his lips, “No, don’t break her back.” I told Sierra, “He’s saying no but his eyes say yes please do.” Sierra shook her head at me.
Before I could comment I heard Dylan talking to Kingsley and my attention went to them, cutting off my conversation with the Daniels. I squealed, “K came!” Emmett rubbed his ear, “Wow. That was a decibel.”
Freya chuckled, “The funny wolf loves your teasing him about being wrong about Kayda.” Dylan tried to get me to tell him but not even drunk me would give that up. I walked over to their group and started to answer his other questions. They were funny.
We talked about Lux. Freya told me, “Kayda is trying to warn you about this topic.” I knew that, but I wasn’t sure what the warning was for. Dylan was lamenting the Conners men lack of fun. Obviously, he didn’t know about all the pranks they pulled.
Max and Theo pulled sneaky ones all the time. My favorite was the slime in the gym. Somehow covered in slime Xander looked really fine. Freya snickered in my head, “You are too funny.” I felt a little bad it didn’t seem anyone knew it had been Max and Theo that pulled the prank. I looked my mate up and down. My husband was just so sexy it wasn’t fair.
I linked Max and Theo, “I’m so sorry… I thought people knew it was you guys… because you do things like that… a lot.” Theo replied, “It’s not a problem. Often, no one suspects us.” Oh… well that was odd. Max agreed, “It is.” I gasped, “I didn’t mean to link that.” Theo laughed, “Shocking.” He was being sarcastic.
Theo agreed, “I was.” UGH! I couldn’t have inside thought and now I was unintentionally linking. Max said, “It’s kind of fun.” Uh oh. Could I turn it off? Neither said anything so I thought maybe I had. I had to explain how I knew they’d pulled the prank.
I asked Freya, “Isn’t it obvious I hacked into their gym feeds? Xander was there a lot, so I had them recording. Sometimes I just watched him work out for hours. The sweat would glisten on his abs… and... Oh gosh… I can’t think about that.”
Freya disagreed, “Or think about it more, and run off to a dark room.” That had merit. Dylan wanted to know how we kept getting away from them. We could show him! I could talk to Lisa this way, and it would be fun! Freya grumbled, “Sneaking off with mate would be more fun.”
I grabbed my friends and ran outside. I said, “Ok… we will do this… just like we used to practice. Split into teams.” Kingsley said, “I’m with you.” I asked, “Do you have your phone?” Kingsley nodded. I asked, “Who else does?”
Sierra replied, “I didn’t have time to grab mine.” Kingsley ended up being the only one with a phone. I laughed instructing Kingsley, “Give it to Si.” Kingsley tossed it to her. I told Sierra,“We will pass it back and forth. Hastein will have the Hackura track her phone.”
Sierra laughed, “I did always want to taunt the future Crown Prince of the Hackura.” I clapped, “Then this is perfect!” Kingsley laughed, “Sarcasm, little Melanie. That was sarcasm.” I shrugged, “Ready and break! Everyone scatter!”
I grabbed Kingsley, threw her over my shoulder, and ran near to the gym. I pointed up in the tree. Freya groaned, “For the love of god girl, we are not squirrels!” I told her, “I had to improvise without you. Old habits die hard.”
Kingsley snorted, “Your wolf isn’t thrilled about the tree jumping, is she?” I asked, “How did you know?” Kingsley said, “You said that out loud, Mel.” I shrugged. Kingsley grabbed me and jumped up into the tree.
I asked, “How are you and Hastein?” Kingsley smiled, “We are really good. He’s been so great and so has his family. It really makes me miss mine. I’ve seen them all now in my memories that have come back. I have a sister and an older brother. I have cousins, aunts, uncles, and my parents. I have friends.” Her voice broke.
Kingsley whispered, “I don’t know why they abandoned me and left me out here all alone. My friends abandoned me hurts too because we were so close.” I surmised, “And….you want me to find and kill them for hurting your feelings? Done.”
Kingsley snickered, “No need to kill anyone just yet.” I sighed then brightened, “We could kill Lisa. That could be fun. The Daniels were totally into it. I picked up the subtext.” Kingsley laughed, “Keaton Daniel’s girlfriend with the annoying voice?”
I pointed out, “His ex-girlfriend now. There’s a new girl… and she’s easily better, even though I know nothing about her.” Kingsley laughed, “We probably shouldn’t kill Lisa.” I frowned. I did tell Emmett I wouldn’t shoot her, but technically I didn’t say I wouldn't kill her.
That would cause problems though. I sighed, “I’ll settle for breaking her nose, since we are going to find her and talk to her anyway.” Kingsley laughed, “I’m so glad we are finding her. I can’t wait to hear this discussion and punching her is fine.”
