Elise linked me, “EJ told me your plan, and Toby is right. Lisa will say no.” I asked, “Have you met her?” Elise said, “Emma has told me about her. That girl’s got her claws deep into Keaton. Lisa’s not going to want to leave.”
I repeated, “This is different though, and Emmett doesn’t have to ask her permission. It honestly sounds like the order needs to be made. Besides, Keaton ended things with Lisa. They officially know they aren’t mates.” Elise shrugged, “We will see.” What was with everyone’s attitude about this girl?
I hoped her parents could see the perks in the offer. Emmett could order them as their Alpha, but it sounded like as long as she wasn’t actually volatile, he wasn’t going to do that. Maybe he would since it was his brother.
I looked at EJ and sighed. EJ linked, “What?” I asked, “Why does everyone think Emmett wouldn’t order Lisa here?” EJ answered, “Because he won’t.” I asked, “Why? You would.” EJ replied, “Our pack bucks traditions.”
Oden said, “I am confused.” Yeah, so was I. I replied, “It’s not bucking a tradition to do what’s right for two pack members, one of whom is an Alpha family member. That girl is toxic, and that’s based on the pittance of information we get about her.”
EJ replied, “If Lisa doesn’t want to go then Emmett’s got a fight on his hands.” I snorted, “What? No, he won’t. All he hasto do is Alpha Orders her because it’s best for everyone. An Alpha takes care of a packs needs.” EJ replied, “We weigh what our pack members want in that though.” Not when they were a cancer to the pack.
Oden reasoned, “At least this wasn’t our problem.” No joke. Mom would have our balls if we dated someone who was psycho. I was convinced Lisa probably was, but time would tell. If only mom had met Lisa before. Who convinced Lexi not to kill Lisa? And why?
Oden huffed, “Good questions, but we don’t have time to answer them now.” That was true because it was almost time for the challenge. I wrapped my arms around Melanie. Dad entered the room, tension tight in shoulders.
I asked, “Where’s mom?” My dad answered, “With Aiden doing some required Fairy shit before a challenge.” Aunt Lucinda laughed, “My dear brother in law, you worry so. Haley will be fine.” Dad replied, “Lucinda, my Angel is what makes my world keep moving. If your very reason for breathing was going to fight someone to the death, you’d be worried too.”
Aunt Lucinda smiled, “I know Aiden wouldn’t lose any challenge, but I’d be worried. Not to your level of worried, but who could be on your level? You’ve always been such a serious man. From the very moment we met actually.”
Angela said, “It’s fine, daddy. Mommy wins.” Melanie smiled knowingly. Dad picked up Angela saying, “I have no doubt your mother wins, Princess. I still worry.” Angela rolled her eyes and laughed. My youngest sister looked at all of us and said, “You guys are just silly.”
Cousin Emmaline popped in with Lucas. Lucas immediately went over to dad. I said, “I’m surprised our uncles are not here.” EJ said, “They will be.” Aunt Lucinda snorted, “They are here. They have been around the fighting arena since your mother arrived.”
I asked, “How do you know that? Are you tracking people too?” I tickled my mate as I said it. Several people cracked up. Aunt Lucinda replied, “No, I only know because I was making sure everything was ready to go. They fade into the background so quickly. Aiden is most annoyed they can come here whenever any of you are around. He liked it better when they had to be brought in.” I snorted.
That comment made me believe that there was at least one Hackura here the whole week because I was always willing to bring my family here. So were my siblings. The Hackura could come back and forth if we were here.
A Fairy I knew well entered the room. Jacile greeted, “Queen Lucinda, it is time.” Aunt Lucinda smiled, “Thank you, Jacile.” Lucinda turned and looked at my dad saying, “Now, remain in your seat when you see what we wear to fight. Just remember you can do your whole possessive wolf, tearing it off and making the realm go into a frenzy later.”
Dad growled, “Haley’s wearing yoga pants and a t-shirt.” I glanced at my siblings because we all knew that wasn’t true. I knew what Male and Females wore to fight in challenges. Based on the bond, so did my mate.
Aunt Lucinda laughed, “Did you think Haley was going to continue wearing that? We have our traditions here. She will be fighting in an outfit that represents her status as the Princess along with her Earth and Sky sides.” I bit my lip. Dad growled so loud TJ put his hand on dad’s back.
I heard another pop that brought Oscar, Jenna, Chase, and Lexi. Chase went over to dad immediately. Lexi glanced around the room smirking before saying, “Well, let’s go see Haley kick some Fairy’s ass.” I popped Melanie and I to the arena.
The four corners represented each Fairy side. There was a side for Fire, Water, Sky, and Earth. The place for the royal family to sit was between the Sky and Earth side. There werewaterfalls on the water side. They were full of fairies playing and having fun.
Our seats were clouds that would move around the fight if needed so we had a good view. Melanie gasped, “Are we… are we on a cloud? It’s really a cloud?! I thought that was just a rumor.” All our heads jerked to her because Jared would not have given her books about this arena. So, how would she have heard about it?
EJ linked, “I would literally pay for the information in your mate’s head.” I rolled my eyes, but kind of agreed. I kissed my wife’s forehead and answered, “We are on a cloud, my wife.” She blushed furiously. Dad’s possessive growl had me looking over. Melanie started to laugh immediately.
Mom had entered the arena. Her hair was pulled back like the Hackura do along with the war paint by her eyes. Her outfit though, was all Fairy. I cleared my throat, “Mom updated the outfit, guys.” Cassie snorted, “You knew she would.” I did.
Dad growled, “You guys knew what the outfit LOOKED LIKE!” Maverick replied, “Of course we did.” Dad groaned. Mom had some sort of leaf necklace on. Her top was blue and had leaves covering her in a bikini style top with a flower in the middle.
It did have original puffy, see through sleeves and the skirt, I was going to call it that because I couldn't think of anything else to describe it, but it was still made out of the original holly leaves. My mom also had on a leaf crown with her wings were out. Everyone cheered thunderous applause.
I felt fierce possessiveness and lust from my dad. Shocking. Uncle Logan and Aunt Katie appeared beside Melanie and me. I looked around and saw that all my Hackura uncles and aunts had shown up. I smiled at my Grandpa Titus and Grandma Veronica. They were sitting with Klaus and Angela. My Hackura cousins were here with their mates too.
Uncle Logan laughed asking, “Where do they come up with these outfits?” I snorted, “It’s an ancient, traditional fae outfit that mom changed and put her flair on.” Gerdishek was brought out and everyone booed. The man had on a bracelet that wouldn’t allow him to pop, but he was free of iron.
Gerdishek eyes found my mom and he visibly startled. I was not alone in my snarl when he checked her out. The idiot glanced over at us and smiled. Gerdishek admitted, “Well, I must admit I did not think a half breed could be as beautiful as you.”
Mom replied sarcastically, “Sure. There’s some logic for you. You’re a half Fairy, therefore you can’t have a good fucking body. You all are some special kind of slow in the head.” Gerdishek frowned before saying, “You talk too much.”
Mom laughed, “You all are the same, aren’t you? You just parrot the same lines because you feel women shouldn’t speak. They should be there to serve your damn needs and suffer in silence. Because we aren’t people to you. You are a bunch of pathetic assholes who don’t deserve to draw breath.”
The vines began to grow from the ground. Gerdishek sneered at her, “I’ll make your family watch as I rip your heart out.” No one could hear the rest of what he said over dad’s roar of anger. Mom rolled her eyes and began to pick at her nails.
