“You really need to take the plunge and give those up completely because your mumbling is getting harder to decipher,” Sinn said, pointing to the cancer stick.

Saint rolled his eyes and led the way into church. He watched each man enter as he took his place at the head of the table.Sinn, as his VP, sat at his right.Usually, only the ranked members attended, but this was a special occasion.Saint needed to see all their faces in order to spot someone who looked guilty.Long shot, considering he didn’t even know what he was looking for.Shame?Bluster?Nervousness?Shit, they all knew he was about to yell at them, so there goes that.He took the cigarette out of his mouth and threw it in the trash.

Once everyone was in attendance, he banged the gavel to start the meeting, and then tossed it so it clattered loudly on the wood.“What the hell happened last night?Accidental stupidity?Sloppy mistake? It was a shitshow, that’s what it was.A complete fucking shitshow!”

The room was deathly silent.Shame flitted across Wrong Way’s face, while the others looked pissed or worried. It was hard to get a read off any of them.

“Lucifer blames us for the attack,” he continued.“Thinks we’re trying to start a turf war.”

“Seems like the Bone Breakers gained everything,” Cas muttered.

“You think they took the dough and the smack?”Snow asked.

“If not them, then who?”Cas asked back.

“We should send a fucking dose of dynamite to their base,” Warden spat.“Eliminate them once and for all.”

“I’m not getting into measuring dicks until I know exactly what went down,” Saint said, studying Warden closely.Although he was supposed to be there, a bad case of the shits caused him to miss the midnight meeting with the Bone Breakers.Cas ended up taking his place and got shot for the effort.Saint had to admit that diarrhea made an excellent alibi.

He hated searching for subterfuge on the faces of his men.

“Who fired first?”he demanded.“Cas?Wrong Way?Sinn?”

“I don’t know, Brother,” Sinn said, pitching his voice low to pretend shame.

“All I heard was a gunshot, then an all-out war started,” Cas replied.

Wrong Way shook his head.“I don’t know either.”

“Are we going to retaliate?”Jade, his road captain, asked.

Noise erupted with a choir of agreement from everyone.Saint banged the gavel to restore order, and everything quieted down almost immediately.

“This is what’s going to happen,” Saint intoned.“Sinn is going to check if there are any cameras in the vicinity that might give some intel. No one is going to do anything to the Bone Breakers without my express permission.”

He saw most didn’t like that directive.

“I’m going to personally handle Lucifer,” he said.“If I find out he had something to do with this, then we’ll take up arms. But for now, I want to find that fucking money and learn who shot first.”

He banged once more, ending the meeting. The men grumbled as they left the room.

“Close the door,” he told Sinn after the last man left church.“Thoughts?”

Sinn hopped onto the table.“Honestly, a case of the runs would be a good way to cover any tracks.”

“I thought the same.”Saint leaned back in his chair.“Fuck.It can’t be him.”

“It shouldn’t beanyof them.”Sinn ran a hand over his face.“I don’t know.I’m having trouble reconciling the thought that any one of those men out there is a thief.”

“Same.”

Sinn leaned forward and placed his elbows on his knees.“I’ll do some background digging. If you’re going to betray the Sons, there has to be a reason.”

“Good point,” Saint replied.“Start there, but don’t forget about trying to fish more information out of our late-night guest.”

“I’m already working up an appetite.”He rubbed his belly and grinned when Saint rolled his eyes.

“Fuck her if you need to.”
