Thorn swallowed hard as his gaze kept flicking between Rhett and me.

“Incubus,” Rhett corrected, and Damien rolled his eyes.

“Same thing,” Damien said as Lachlan nodded his head in agreement.

“Not really.” Kian cleared his throat as he adjusted his glasses. “Calling demons by what they feed isn’t the technical term. By that logic, you’d be a demon of pain and negativity.”

“That’s not far off from the truth.” He shrugged.

“Right, well, I have places to be. I'll see you tomorrow evening, Wren.” Rhett winked at me before transforming into the small bat I’d nursed back to health, and my chest swelled from how adorable that form was.

Oh, shoot. I hoped that wasn’t what people thought of when they saw my fox form.

Rhett flew forward and nuzzled my cheek before flying out the open window of my room.

“Tomorrow evening?” Thorn blinked at me.

“Don’t look at me like that!” I glanced at the men in the room, who were all staring at me like I was crazy. “I’d scheduled a session before all this happened.”

“So you’re going to be alone with him... again? After he was naked beside you with you sleeping?” Thorn’s eyes shifted to the floor as he scratched his head. “Maybe I should make a contract with him…”

I gasped. “Don’t you dare!”

He huffed, crossing his arms.

Damien’s shadows started swirling around him as he prowled forward until his shadows consumed his body, propelling him forward in a blur of darkness until he had me pinned to the bed with both of my wrists in his hands.

His nose touched mine, and his breath fanned over my lips. The cool feel of his shadows wrapping around my body cooled the burning in my veins.

“You may have moaned for Rhett first, but you’ll make that sweet sound for me soon enough.” His dark gray irises had almost darkened to black. “My little bird.”

My heart pounded against my breastbone with no mercy as the other guys’ stares bore into us, and I was acutely aware of my knees being parted and him being between them.

Damien faded into his shadows, and I snapped my legs together as I laid on the bed with heat racing over my skin.

Thorn let out a sigh before walking over and sitting on the side of the bed. He brushed his fingers across my forehead and his icy mist coated me. “You’re blossoming, Wren.”

A content sigh escaped my lips as my body cooled off. “Thanks to you.”

“Not only thanks to me,” he murmured.

Lachlan sat on the bed beside him, dragging Kian along to sit next to him so that all three of them were sitting on the twin bed with me.

I propped up on my elbows. “How awkward is it now? Be honest.”

“Awkward?” Lachlan chuckled. “Not awkward. You’re very,”—Kian elbowed him—“ahem, attractive.”

“What he means to say is that moaning when under the influence of pheromones is perfectly normal. Moaning even without pheromones in play is also normal. Don’t feel weird about it,” Kian assured me, and the other two nodded in agreement.

“I will say I’m not used to seeing you around others like this,” Thorn said, and I reached out to squeeze his hand. “Are you sure you’re not interested in a contract? I could take you to my kingdom and give you everything. There would be no need for you to stay at an academy that prepares for war on humans.”

“Shut up with your fancy words, Thorn.” Lachlan smacked the back of his head. “She’s happy here... right?”

“I’m happy she’s here,” Kian mumbled, and my smile grew.

“I am happy here. Sorry, Thorn, but I’ll never enter a contract with you.” I patted his hand before pulling mine back.

He shrugged. “Maybe you’ll change your mind one day.”
