“You’remyobsession, little bird.” Damien shot me a wicked grin as he tapped his pocket with my panties. “Next time,I’lltake care of your built up energy.”
Kian’s eyes were downcast. “Um, I’m not sure if I would be as much help as those two, because they seem to know what they’re doing, but I’m always here if you need me.”
I rolled my bottom lip into my mouth. I was going to combust with all these men and their pretty words that wove around my heart.
SIXTEEN
Wren
Trixie’sbodyshookasshe fell apart with laughter after I’d told her what had happened in Alister’s class.
“It’s not that funny,” I hissed, ducking my head behind the incubus textbook I was reading as others in the library glanced over at us.
“Babe, it’s fuckinghilarious!” Trixie wiped a stray tear from under her eye as she giggled. “I’m sorry, but he messed with you so bad that you’re researching about him!”
“Not researchinghim,” I corrected, setting the book back down on the chapter about pheromones. “I’m looking into his supernatural type.”
“Because his pheromones made you horny.” Her lips twitched as she fought a smile.
I rolled my eyes, scanning the pages for the fourth time. “When you grow up isolated, you don’t get much experience in that kind of stuff.”
Her grin dropped and she placed her arms on the table as she bent forward to whisper, “That’s not your fault, okay, I get that. But you’re not in that village anymore. You’re at Fate Hollow. You have plenty of men to experiment with now.”
I scoffed, ignoring the tingles that sparked up below at the mention of it. “No way.”
Trixie arched a perfect auburn brow. “What about Damien?”
My cheeks flamed as I thought of ‘experimenting’ with him. I’d already given him my first kiss. “Yeah, okay, Imaybe crushing on him.”
“You’retotallycrushing on him.” She grinned, flashing her mushroom necklace. “We’re best friends. I know these things.”
My fingers brushed my matching necklace as I smiled. I’d always wanted a best friend, and Trixie had exceeded every expectation of having one and it was only the first week. “You’re not wrong.”
“I’m crushing on you too,” Damien murmured, kissing me on the cheek.
I yelped, almost falling out of the chair, but he grabbed it and kept it upright as he dragged his nose down my neck and inhaled my scent.
Trixie rolled her eyes with a smile. “You’re such a stalker.”
He trailed his nose back up my neck and moved his cheek against mine and sighed. “My little bird is just interesting. Did she tell you that she kissed me?”
My heart pounded as his body heat seeped into me, warming me to my core. He was still obsessed with the fact that I’d kissed him. I wasn’t sure where that courage had come from, but I think it had to do with how upset he was that he indirectly hurt me through hurting Grayson.
Damien made my heart melt.
Trixie shook her head. “No, but you’ve told me and everyone else like a million times. Wren, you do know he’s a literal psychopath, right?”
“I like the way he is,” I said with a shrug, and Damien pressed closer. “I don’t care what label anyone puts on him.”
“Take care of my little bird,” he told Trixie before pressing another hot kiss to my cheek. “I’ve got someone to chat with, but I’ll be back later.”
“She’smybest friend.” Trixie scoffed, waving her hand from side to side. “Of course I’ll take care of her.”
“I’m trusting you,” he said, turning to look at her.
Her brows furrowed before she nodded. “She’s safe with me.”
“She’ssafestwith me,” he grumbled, an air of despair radiating from him so strong it choked me.
