His parents stared at me before shifting their gaze toward their son. "Supernatural?"
His eyes darkened as he swallowed, Adam's apple bobbing. "Vampire. I was turned when I was dying."
"The man with the long, dark hair." Agnes gasped, and he nodded.
"We thought he tried to save your life." William’s face sagged.
"He did," Blaise said with a wavering voice. "He did save my life."
“What about your soul?”
A beat of silence passed as anguish took over Blaise’s face.
“His soul is fine,” I snapped. “His supernatural soul will go to Heaven when he dies unless he commits a depraved act, which he won’t.”
“But vampires…” William rubbed his brow. “Aren’t they evil?”
I snorted. “Absolutely not. There are evil supernatural creatures and good supernatural creatures, just like there are humans.”
I fucking hated humanity's outlook on supernatural creatures. They always vilified what they didn’t understand. That’s more of society’s fault though.
Agnes glanced back toward me. "And who is this? How did she bring you here?"
He held his hand out, and I took it, lacing our fingers together. "Lilith's the woman I love."
"Woman? What are you?" William’s gaze skittered over to me.
"Well, Iwashuman for twenty years," I claimed before word vomit ensued. "Then I was turned into a vampire, and then I awakened my dormant demon side. So, I'm technically a vampire-demon hybrid."
Their eyebrows shot up, and they did a slow nod.
"I was only able to make a short visitation on such short notice, but I'd like you to know supernatural creatures can visit Heaven as long as you do so properly," I said. "Blaise has truly missed you both, and I know none of you got to say goodbye."
They shared a look of giddiness.
“Thank you, Lilith.” Agnes’s lips curved into a warm smile. “You’ve given us something not many people get...even after death.”
I returned her smile, and she began fawning over her son. I stood back a bit and let them enjoy their reunion. The afterlife was so much different from the living. There was more acceptance from the previous human life.
Blaise looked almost innocent. Well, as much as a vampire with sexy-ass tattoos could look, and the boyish grin on his face as he spoke to his parents was something I would never forget.
"Bellet family visit is over," the angelic voice from before said. "Please say your goodbyes."
Blaise wrapped them both in a hug before wrapping an arm around me and pulling me closer. "I didn't realize how much I needed this."
"But Lilith did," Agnes said. "Thank you for bringing our boy to us. It's been such a blessing."
"Take care of him," William said with a nod.
"I'll always take care of him," I promised, and the room warped back to white.
"Visitation is over."
Blaise let out a breath and collapsed to his knees. "Lilith, bloody hell.My parents."
I dropped on my knees beside him, holding his shoulder to turn him toward me. "You never had closure with them. Both of their deaths were sudden. I thought it would help."
"Fuck!" Big tears rolled down his cheeks, and his lips trembled. "It helped, but I didn't know I needed it so bloody much."
