The three seers at the entrance of my room sighed and walked closer.

I didn’t know what called for a personal visit from the seers, but now wasn’t a good fucking time.

Contessa smiled. “The power confuses your body. Once you figure it out, your body will join with your powers and you won’t have this problem anymore.”

My brows furrowed. “What’s that mean? Figure out what?”

Beatrice shrugged, and the gecko on her shoulder chirped. “We aren’t here for that.”

Regalia stepped closer with a crystal ball in her hands. “We’re here to talk to you about Viktor.”

A shudder wracked through my body. “What about him?”

“Don’t underestimate him,” she said as her dark eyes blackened more and the crystal ball glowed.

A swirl of black dissipated in the crystal to show Viktor’s grotesque form. It’d seemed he didn’t look as decayed as he did the first time we’d met, but his claws and sharp teeth were on display as he circled around a teenage boy with a predatory glint in his eyes.

The next moment, Viktor leaped toward him, and a blackness swallowed the picture, filling the crystal completely.

I sucked in a sharp breath, pressing my cheek further against Kai’s palms.

“He’s developed more powers,” she said. “Powers he received fromyou.”

Beatrice yawned. “Your blood gives significant power, amplifying a vampire's original power.”

“But only for a short time,” Regalia said. “To maintain the extra strength, you’d be donating your blood every full moon.”

“Why full moon?” Blaise asked.

The seers cackled, and Regalia answered, “The full moon neutralizes blood magic. In order to keep amplified powers, you’d have to be drunk from after each full moon.”

“Blood magic?” Aziel asked, stepping toward them.

“Vampires have ancient blood magic dwelling in their blood. Vampires can drink the blood of another vampire to amplify or gain powers because they are the same species.”

“Although, usually, one party sucks the other party dry,” Beatrice added, patting her gecko on the head.

Fucking delightful.

A wave of exhaustion slammed into me, and my eyelids drooped. “What were you going to say about Viktor?”

“You’re the only one who can bring Viktor down successfully,” Contessa said. “Delegating demons to New York to spy isn’t a bad idea, surface level, but it won’t lead you down the path you hope. We’ve seen it.”

“What the bloody hell does that mean?” Kai snapped. “Does it mean we need to go by ourselves?”

They each glared at Kai. “No. It means you need to go to New York, blend in efficiently, and take it down from the inside. Remember the prophecy. We need to ensure balance. The longer you wait to take action, the higher the probability of failure is.”

I winced at the throbbing in my veins, and Kai brushed my hair out of my face.

“What makes you think we’ll be able to find Viktor and take down the entire ring when Mortala and Priamos have been undercover with no sight of him?” Thaddeus asked.

“She’s the Crimson Demon. Viktor will sniff her out,” Regalia said.

“Actually, I believe she will sniff him out.” Beatrice snorted.

“But if she does not carry out this notch on her fate line, everyone will die,” Contessa said.

Lances of stabbing pain traveled through my limbs, and I yelped.
