Kai’s hands slipped around my waist, and he squeezed me against his chest. “I’ve avoided it for so bloody long. Ever since you’ve come into my life, I’ve had to face it.”

I sucked on my bottom lip, holding him tighter. “I’m sorry.”

His hands ran up my sides to cup my face, and he bent down to kiss my lips. “Lilith, it’s a good thing. I needed to confront my past to get by it.”

“Take notes, Thaddeus,” Aziel muttered, and Thaddeus glared daggers at him.

Kai let me go, and I turned toward Blaise.“So, what’s the new power, exactly?”

“I can go into people’s memories. It’s bloody wild, Poppy.” He ran a hand through his spiky hair. “It brought Kai and I both into a deep memory. We had all five senses. It was soreal.”

“I can’t imagine what you saw, but I think I have an idea.” I padded closer to him and ran my hand down his arm. “It seems like all of your powers have been amplified. Will it be like that forever or is it a temporary thing?”

“We don’t know,” Thaddeus answered. “The rumors were that you had to drain a vampire’s body of blood to get the powers.”

“Maybe because she’s a hybrid you only need a little?” Aziel offered.

“Maybe.” My blood ran cold as I swept my gaze over them. “Oh, fuck. Viktor took my blood. He almost drained me. What powers do you think I gave him?”

Their faces hardened, and a chilliness settled over us.

Viktor was probably three-times stronger than the last time we fought, and we struggled against him then. I hoped our strength was enough, because we had no idea who was backing Viktor or what he was capable of now.

Hot flames faded from my scalding skin as I teleported us back to Hell. The red clay and glowing walls of my room came into focus before a sharp pain ricocheted down my spine.

I gasped out as violent tremors wracked through my body, exhaustion sweeping behind them.

Aziel and Thaddeus were holding onto my hands when we teleported, and I clutched their hands so hard my muscles ached.

“Fuck!” Another bolt of pain assaulted me, zipping through my temples, and my head fell back. I fell into Kai’s chest as Blaise came into view in front of me.

“Poppy, what’s going on?” His gaze was examining my body.

“I—” Another ripple of pain rushed through me, and I clenched my teeth with a stifled groan.

“Bloody hell, what’s happening?” Kai’s voice was muffled as my thrashing body was picked up and moved to a soft surface. Zips of white-hot pain shot through me as sweat beaded down my spine.

“She overworked herself again,” Aziel snapped.

The guys were pacing back and forth, and their footsteps against the dry clay were soft but fucking annoying.

“Can’t you do what Titan did and make her go to sleep?” Thaddeus asked.

“No,” Aziel answered with disdain in his voice. “I do not have that power.”

“Kai, can you try something?” Blaise asked.

Warm hands settled on each side of my face before calmness fell over me. It wasn’t enough to stop the pain ambling through, but it was enough to make it bearable.

I opened my eyes, blinking a few times. “This fucking body is weak,” I rasped. “I should be able to teleport without bringing me to this state of exhaustion.”

“Relax, Lilith,” a rough female voice said near the portal. “I think we can help you with that.”

I need to get a fucking lock.

“How?” I croaked, angling my head to look over. “This body can’t handle my fucking powers.”
