Thaddeus huffed. “Strategically, that is the best plan.”
Kai and I shared a victory glance.
“It’s settled then.” I clapped my hands. “I’ll go into the forest and hang out around the swimming hole looking extra damsel in distress.”
“No way you’re going alone, love,” Thaddeus said.
“I’ll go. I can shift into my cat form,” Aziel said.
Jax, my sweet black cat popped into my mind. Knowing that my cat was an insatiably hot demon kind of fucked with my head.
“That’s a good idea.” I cleared my throat, drumming my fingers on the table. “You guys can be on standby while we lure him out.”
“How are you going to cover up that stench of sulfur?” Blaise scrunched his nose. “Viktor will smellthatmiles away.”
“Lavender essential oil covers the scent of a demon,” Aziel said with a wink. “Fun fact of the day.”
That’s why I could smell an overwhelming scent of lavender.
“How will you all sense Viktor without him sensing you?”
Thaddeus groaned, shoving his hand through his hair. “I can find a fae to cloak us.”
“Can we trust outsiders, though?” Aziel asked.
“Honestly? Bloody doubt it,” Blaise said.
Aziel blew out a harsh breath. “I’m not fond of this idea, but I can always come to get you once Viktor shows himself. I’m fast in my cat form.”
“And leave Lilith by herself with him?” Kai asked. “No thanks.”
“I don’t like it, but it’s a way to avoid involving the fae.” Thaddeus rubbed his cheek.
“Fuck,” Blaise muttered.
“That’s fine. We’ll have to do that. I have my powers. I can just make him kill himself, can’t I?” I yawned. “Like that one vampire.”
Thaddeus’s eyes snapped to mine. “Love, this is an ancient vampire. He’s been around since the Kings of Hell took over. Your powers probably won’t work on him. He may be slightly affected, but I doubt they’ll actually sway him.”
Aziel’s spine straightened. “Viktor as in the one who attempted to dethrone King Zelek?”
My head throbbed, and I jerked my hands up to grab it. “Fuck!”
“Are you okay?” Blaise’s large hand cupped my shoulder.
“Yeah,” I lied. “Just a headache.”
“Vampires don’t get headaches,” Kai said with his brows drawn together in concern.
“I think I need to go lie back down. Can you all come up with the rest of the plan?” The middle of my skull felt like it was cracking open.
“Of course,” Aziel whispered, kissing my forehead. “I’ll come with you.”
“Actually, we may need your expertise. You’ve been around a while,” Thaddeus said.
He smirked. “You have no fucking idea.”
“I’ll go with you,” Kai suggested, getting out of his chair.
