“While you were shagging the demon,” Thaddeus said with a scrunched nose. “Blaise and Kai met with the Brune clan and found—”
“Hold the fuck up.” I leaned into the table with my palms flat against it as jealousy flared. “The fuck were you doing with them? That woman is pureevil.”
“Doesn’t feel good, does it?” Kai grumbled cutely, crossing his arms.
“Not the same thing at all,” Aziel said with certainty as he came into the room and took the seat in between me and Thaddeus. “You have entered her harem. Therefore, you belong to her.”
My heart jumped to my throat.Harem? Belong to me?
I wasn’t sure about all that, but I did like the sound of it.
Aziel scooted his chair closer with a screech before he pressed his lips to my temple and started twirling my hair around his finger.
“Do you know what personal space is?” Thaddeus asked.
“Sure do,” he purred, leaning in closer.
“Back to the topic at hand,” I growled out. “Why didn’t you tell me you were meeting them? Did she try anything?”
Kai’s jealousy simmered as his eyes softened. “She did, as always, and we successfully shot down any advances.”
“We’re yours,” Blaise said, moving his chair even closer to my other side, the chair legs scratching the wooden floor. “I don’t particularly hate the idea of belonging to you.”
My muscles relaxed, and I leaned into the back of my chair. “What happened?”
“They’d heard rumors that Viktor has been hiding out in the forest near the gate of Hell.”
“Of fucking course he has,” I muttered.
Why was it always the gate to Hell? Why couldn’t it just be in an abandoned alleyway or a fucking farm?
A white-hot pain radiated through the back of my skull toward the front, and I winced.
Fuck.
“We need a plan to lure him out,” Kai said, steepling his fingertips together.
I forced down the sick feeling in my gut and pushed away the pain in my head. “I have an idea.”
“Not happening,” Aziel said, breath hitting my ear.
I turned toward him. “You don’t even know what I’m about to say.”
“You’re planning to use yourself as bait.”
Shooting him a thoughtful look, I nodded. “It’s a great plan. He’s after newly turned vampires, and I—exhibit A—am one.”
“Out of the question,” Thaddeus said.
“Not bloody happening,” Blaise agreed.
“Actually, and I can’t well believe I’m saying this,” Kai piped up. “Lilith has a point. Viktor himself would be drawn out if she was close enough, and it would give us a better chance at obliterating him.”
I wrapped my palm around my pendant and squeezed. The pain in my head shifted to a slight pull. “This is why Kai’s my favorite.”
The guys scoffed, and Aziel licked my ear lobe. “I was your favorite last night.”
A chill shot through me, and I shivered. “Yes, you were. But now, it’s Kai.” I winked toward Kai, who smiled back. “Seriously, though. It’s the most reliable plan. Unless you all have a better one?” I raised a brow, scanning my eyes over them.
