“Sounds like us,” Kai said from my other side.

Both of them were close, squishing me between them as Thaddeus watched us.

Something primal awakened inside me, pulsing through my veins. Arousal drenched the air as I leaned my head back and let out a soft moan purely because of how desired I was at that moment.

Jax jumped up off the back of the couch and hissed, arching his back toward the door. “Grr.”

Ice trickled through me as I stiffened.

“Oh, fuck. Jax acted like that when those..” I blinked, holding onto both Blaise and Kai’s upper arms. “...bad guys were at my family’s house.”

Thaddeus jumped into action, getting to his feet and checking the surroundings. “Aren’t you glad I didn’t drink now?”

“Immensely grateful, actually.”

He shot me a scathing look, and I ducked my head.

“Just sayin’.”

The window behind us shattered, and a cold set of grabby hands pulled me from Blaise and Kai, who seemed to have sobered up quicker than me.

I twisted in the creep’s hold to find it was a vampire.

“Hello, there.” He had a thick Eastern European accent with a black goatee and sideburns. The dude looked ancient. “I’m here to take you to Viktor.”

“No thanks, asshole.” I squirmed, but my strength was impaired from the side effects of the alcohol.

Oh, fuck.

He bent his head into the crook of my neck. His fangs grazed the side of my neck right before Blaise landed a punch so hard I was sure they’d break off.

“Don’t fucking touch her!”

Thaddeus grabbed my wrist and flung me into Kai’s open arms. I gripped his shirt to steady myself as we both smacked into the floor.

We’d drunk ourselves totally stupid. Getting hammered to celebrate wasn’t my best idea with Viktor still out there, I admit that.

Thaddeus fought with the vampire in a sequence of blurs until he slammed Thaddeus into the coffee table, splintering it as it broke under the impact. Wood splintered, and liquid from the bottles soaked the floor.

I couldn’t focus my hearing or vision; I was so fucking drunk. Slapping a hand over my face, I tried to rub it until I sobered myself.

“Lilith, move!” Kai’s eyes widened as Jax leaped behind me faster than I could blink.

“Jax, no!” I whirled around.

My protest died on my lips as I watched Jax transform in front of my eyes.

His black hair rescinded into tanned skin as he morphed into a tall, fit man with a nice ass mid-leap. A fuckingattractive and nakedman with messy midnight-black hair.

The vampire froze to the spot. “So it isn’t a coincidence. You never stray too far from her, do you?”

Jax snapped his fingers and blue flames appeared, a blue glow dancing around the room as they consumed the vampire until there was nothing left.

Kai’s grip on me tightened, and Thaddeus grunted, eyes widening as he saw Jax. Blaise was shocked silent as he gaped at him.

“Wait just a fucking second!” I scrambled to my feet, swaying slightly. “Did everyone else just see my cat turn into a-a-a...person?”

Jax spun around to face me and time stopped. I gasped at the two black horns protruding from his head.
