He tilted my chin up to look at him. “You wouldn’t be forcing yourself, but he does have a lot of walls you’ll have to break through.”
“Yeah.” I sniffed. “I guess we’ll see.”
He let go of me and nodded. “Let’s keep practicing. I want you to try to focus on anger this time. We know you can take me down with your lust, but can you take me down with the rest?”
“Guess we’ll see.” I winked. “I know I can’t take you down without an advantage because of your speed, so I need to catch you off guard.”
He spread his arms wide. “Catch me off guard then, Poppy.”
Blaise proceeded to kick my ass until the end of training, no matter what emotion I threw at him. My lower abdomen tingled with impatience from the skin to skin contact every fucking time.
I can’t wait to see how Blaise will reward me once I kick his ass two more times.
“Lilith?”
I pushed away my lustful thoughts as Kai waved a hand in my face. “Yeah?”
“Did you hear what Thaddeus said?”
Thaddeus shook his head at me. I couldn’t get over how dismissive he was toward me earlier.Jackass.
Blaise covered his mouth with a snort.
“What did he say?” I ran my fingertips over the grooves in the wooden desk as we huddled around it in the library.
Thaddeus was briefing us over the abandoned we were supposed to hunt tonight, but I lost track after his opening.
“He said we were hunting three green-eyed abandoned.”
“And what about these creatures is different?” Thaddeus raised a brow at me.
“Um.” My mouth went dry. “They have sharp teeth?”
Collective groans sounded from them.
“They all have sharp teeth, Poppy.” Blaise chuckled.
Thaddeus strode my way and stopped inches from where I was leaned against the table. “Do you remember when we told you there was one other clan that does what we do?”
I nodded. I didn’t trust my voice when he was this close. His delicious coffee scent invaded my senses.
“Brune Clan is made up of two brothers and one sister. They’re vampires like us who have a job to obliterate the abandoned.”
“Were they appointed by the Order?”
He nodded.
“Okay, so what about them?”
He heaved a sigh as he smoothed his hair back into that delectable man bun. My gaze was drawn to his jugular vein that pulsed as soon as his hair was up. A strange urge to dip my fangs into it shuddered through me.
I swallowed hard and tore my eyes away.

Blaise coughed.
“They’ve been tracking this trio of abandoned since they appeared near the Hell gate in Canada.”
