“I’m not sure if…”
“He’s not like Tyler?” Silas finished for me.
“No, he definitely isn’t,” I said without hesitation. “They’re on completely opposite sides of the spectrum.”
“I know. I’ve spent enough time with the guy to learn as much. So the hold-up is just your fear?”
I wiped my palmed on my legs and nodded, not willing to delve into much more.
“You literally told me there are bigger things to worry about,” he reminded me.
“There are,” I agreed.
“Something big enough to waste time tip-toeing around when you could live and be happy?”
I shot Silas a suspicious look. “Are you okay? You just gave me some levelheaded advice on relationships.”
“Hey.” He placed his hand on his chest. “Take it from a man who ruins his shot, you should give it your all when you find someone who’s worth it… Ari basically rejected me the other day.”
I stuck out my bottom lip. “Sorry about that.”
He shook his head like he didn’t care. “I’m fine. My point is if you know he’s good—”
“He is,” I confirmed.
“Then what’s the point of dancing around it? It’s a waste wondering about what-ifs, Em. Spend your time debunking the what-ifs. The fastest way to do that is to go full speed ahead.”
“You are being so supportive.” I smiled. “I like it.”
He grinned back. “I also have insider knowledge on the subject so…I’m not just talking out of my ass.”
I shoved him. “What insider knowledge? You better tell me, Silas Sridhar. After everything we’ve been through, I should be privy to all secrets.”
“Uncle, uncle.” Silas made a time-out sign and then, looked to Kyle for help. “Are you going to let her sit here and harass your ailing patient?”
Kyle chuckled. “She sounds within her rights to me. Don’t move, okay? I’m going to get more tape for your knee.”
I punched Silas’s shoulder again once Kyle got up to leave. “Tell me what you know.”
“Hey, hey, okay. Cool it,” Silas gave in. “I can’t say much because I’m trying to be a decent friend to someone for once.”
“You’re supposed to be a decent friend to your oldest friend. There’s a hierarchy.”
“Well, that’d be Kai, but okay fine. I’ll let you take half of that title on principle alone.”
I pinched his cheek in protest.
“All I know is Wells isn’t the kind of guy who plays around. The man’s been into you from day one, okay? So much so that he kind of confronted me when he thought I was into you.”
I laughed at the thought. “Into me?”
“Yeah.” Silas chuckled too. “Anyway, we hashed it out, and I gave him some advice that from the looks of it worked.”
“Advice?” Oh, I couldn’t resist learning more about this.
“I told him you need to be checked,” he teased. “On a daily.”
I rolled my eyes. “You’re despicable. I don’t know why I even try.”
