“Did you sleep with her?”

“What?” I dropped my hand from my head as I processed Sable’s question. “You know that I have in the past.”

“Which past?”

“I don’t know what you’re asking me.” I stalked toward her, taking her hand before she could retreat. As fun as the chase was, I didn’t have time for it now. “Say what’s on your mind.”

“What did I walk in on?”

“An argument.”

“It looked kind of passionate.”

“What the hell does that mean?” I backed her against the door. “She pissed me off because she brought up Bello.”

“She knows how to push your buttons.” The hurt in her expression dominated the anger.

“That’s not the issue here.” I squeezed her hand. “Ask me the question you want the answer to. Be direct.”

“When we were apart, did you sleep with her?”

“No.” I gritted my teeth. “How could you think that?”

“Because she was here the day I gave you the bracelet back. We ended things. You were free to do what you wanted.” She gazed down at the floor. “When I saw you with her just now, I thought you were arguing because you and I are back together.”

“Camila will never have a say in my relationship with you because I don’t care what she thinks.” I closed my eyes and tried to compose myself. “I don’t know how you could think that I would sleep with anyone after… I wouldn’t.”

I didn’t have a chance to calm down from Bello being in my boutique. And now this.

“I’m sorry,” Sable whispered. “She got inside my head the last time I was here.”

“She told me what she said to you, and I’m sorry about that.”

“It’s not your fault.”

“I wish you would stop saying that.”

“Why?”

“Because so much is my fault.” I cupped the side of her face in my hand. “But I promise I don’t want anyone but you. I never will.”

“I believe you.”

“You asked me something the day you gave me the bracelet back and I couldn’t answer it because I was hurt and confused.”

The vibrant shimmer of emerald flashed in her gaze. “I asked if you said you loved me today, would you mean it?”

“I love you, Sable.” I swept my mouth along her soft lips. “I love you more than anything. The thought of not having you in my life makes me insane.”

“I love you too.” Her breath fluttered across my lips. “I’m sorry that I thought you and Camila…”

“Shh.” I pressed my fingers to her mouth. “There’s only the two of us in this room. You’re all I’m ever going to want.”

No more words were needed. I pinned her against the door, taking my time to kiss her. Slow and sensual, pouring everything I had into this connection. The only mouth I ever wanted to kiss from now until I drew my last breath.

“I’m glad you’re back here.” I spoke against her lips. “You keep me centered even when everything seems to be crumbling at my feet.”

“I’ll help you pick up the pieces.”
