“You finally unblocked me? I knew you missed me. Baby, let me come home. I promise I learned from this shit, and I will never put you through no type of bullshit again.”

“I don’t know about that. It’s only been a few days, and I’m not sure that you have learned. Maybe I need to show you. I don’t play games, and I don’t do back and forth with niggas. When I’m done, dassit!” I honestly said.

“I know that, baby, and that’s why I appreciate you for unblocking me. That says a lot, but please let me come home. I’m at Trell’s crib, and he in there fucking. I never heard that nigga making noise with no females. Your home girl is wild as hell. I’d rather be under you than to get a room, but I gotta get out of here right now. I knew I shouldn’t have never let my crib go for yo ass. I just wasn’t thinking that you would put me out of my own shit.”

“My home girl? Is Ciara over there?”

“Yeah. Her ass been here since this morning. I left then came back, and they still in there getting it in,” Rowdy snitched.

“Bring your black ass home. Don’t ever put yourself in a position to lose me again, or it won’t be a third chance. No matter how much you want to protect me, I need to know what you have going on in real life. Had I known about J from the jump, none of this shit would have gone down. If I don’t know what you’re into, it’s impossible for me to look out for you too.”

“Your job is not to look out for me, and I’m not about to have you stressing about what I’m doing. We can talk when I get home. I will never put you or your freedom in danger, so it’s no way that I can tell you everything, but I won’t hide anything important. I’m on my way, baby. Stay up and listen for the door,” Rowdy said before ending the call.

I jumped up and searched for a cute robe to put on. Then I put my hair into a neat ponytail, put some gloss on my lips, and waited on my man to come home. Thirty minutes later, he was knocking on the door. When I let him in, he lifted me off the ground in a bear hug.

He put me down and pulled the string that held my robe closed. As he massaged my shoulders, he watched as my robe fell to the ground. Once I was completely naked, he placed his hand on my stomach before leaning over and whispering in my ear that he was sorry for everything.

Rowdy picked me up, palming both of my cheeks while kissing me at the same time. He carried me to our bed, where we made love until the sun was almost up. I no longer had to hide my pregnancy, and I truly believed Rowdy would do right by us no matter the outcome. That night, I slept peacefully with the man I loved and with a clean conscience.

Jashawn was speeding as we rushed Diamond to the hospital. My son was screaming at the top of his lungs at the sight of his mom bleeding and unresponsive in the backseat beside him. I sat in the passenger seat but was leaning into the back of the car, applying pressure to Diamond’s wound. I prayed that she would make it through this. I begged her to hang on and not give up as my son cried his little heart out.

I couldn’t believe my brother had done this. I explained to him before we left our spot to do the exchange that we would only get active if need be. His life wasn’t threatened, and those niggas weren’t gonna do shit. They just wanted the money. He should have never pulled his gun out, let alone pulled the trigger.

“Baby bro, I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean for Diamond to get hit. That shit was an accident.”

“Shut the fuck up talking to me, Jashawn! I told yo’ ass not to be on no bullshit. I just wanted to get them home safely, and you still did what you wanted. The fucked-up part is that you didn’t even hit the nigga you was aiming for! You hit my fuckin’ baby momma. Nigga, I’ll never forgive you for this shit, and if she doesn’t make it, I promise I’m going to be yo’ worst nightmare!” I spat.

“I said I was sorry. I don’t know what else you want me to say! Nobody told her dumb ass to jump on that nigga’s back. She was supposed to be behind you, headed to the car. I didn’t think she would do no shit like that. You know it was an accident, so please calm down before I have to hurt yo’ emotional ass.”

“Get me to the hospital, and don’t say shit else to me in yo’ life! I mean that!” I spat.

“Stand on that, youngin’! You gon’ need me again, just watch,” Jashawn said as he came to an abrupt stop.

We were parked right outside the ER, so I jumped out of the car and grabbed Diamond from the backseat. I rushed her through the glass doors, and immediately, the staff ran over to assist. A few moments later, they placed her on a gurney and rushed her to the back. This shit was like déjà vu. I just prayed that Diamond would have the same luck as Keith.

I ran outside to get my son out of the car and told Jashawn he could leave. I really blamed this hard-headed ass nigga for everything that went wrong tonight. I no longer cared about the money I gave to Black; I was worried about Diamond. Shit was not looking good for her.

I sat in the ER for hours on pins and needles. Diamond’s mother had shown up shortly after me, and we were both on eggshells, waiting for an update. She paced around the waiting room while I sat and rocked JJ. My son had been through too much, and he didn’t deserve to witness any of this. I knew I needed to change my life for him because, right now, I was thereason he and his mom could have lost their lives. Diamond was still fighting for hers, and who knows what the outcome would be?

After six hours of waiting, a doctor came out and got Diamond’s mother. They said she was the only person who could go to the back since she was family and JJ was too young. I sat nervously, waiting for any news. About thirty minutes after Eva went to the back, two detectives came into the waiting room to question me.

“Mr. Jones, I’m detective Lee, and this is my partner Detective Myers. We need to ask you a few questions pertaining to the mother of your son, Diamond Rogers,” the detective spoke as they stood in front of me.

“Yes, I may have a few answers.” I stood up with JJ on my side.

I would never let another man talk above me. If we were going to have a talk, we would all be standing. I never cared for police or detectives, so I damn sure wasn’t about to make them feel superior. I was now nervous as hell because I knew they would want answers.

“Can you tell us exactly what happened and where it took place? We also need a timeframe,” Lee said.

“I was going to meet Diamond to get my son for a few days down in Little Elm. We met on a country dirt road. We had met there a few times before. My brother was in the car with me because we had been hanging out for the majority of the day. When we pulled up to her car to get my son, she was shot and bleeding. Her glove compartment was open, her car door was open, and things were thrown everywhere. My son was in the backseat crying, so I grabbed him and placed him in my car, then we rushed her here. My brother drove us to the hospital while I tried to stop Diamond’s bleeding.”

“We need the street name, time frame, and to take a look at your car. We will go and look for her car as well. It should be in the same spot that you found her in. If your brother was in the car with you, I need his information also to corroborate your story. From what you’re telling us, it sounds like she was the victim of a robbery or carjacking gone wrong,” Myers stated.

“My brother took my car home hours ago, and do what you need to do on your end. As you can see, I have my hands full with my son, and I’m trying to make sure his mother is going to be okay. My lawyer and I can come down to the station at a later time for statements. Now is just not it!” I barked.

I needed time to get my story straight and have my bitch ass brother on board with what to say if these bastards questioned him. I didn’t think we would be questioned because they didn’t do this shit for Keith. I guess he was just another black nigga that they wanted off the streets. I answered a few more questions before respectfully asking them to get the fuck on.

After waiting another hour, Diamond’s mom texted me that I could leave and she would call me later. I didn’t know what was going on, and it was driving me crazy.
