But Trina headed for the bathroom.

“Trina?Trina?”

Reno picked up his phone and looked at the text message. “Shit,” he said, got out of bed himself, and went to the bathroom.

Trina had the shower water running while she brushed her teeth at the vanity. Reno leaned against the doorjamb, hisarms folded, and stared at her naked body. His penis activated as he stared at her tight ass. “She’s some singer. She’s entertainment, Tree.”

As she continued to brush her teeth, Trina looked at him through the vanity mirror with a look that made clear she wasn’t buying what he was selling.

“She’s the number one streaming artist in the country right now. She wants a residency but I’m not convinced she’s worthy of that kind of elevation. That’s all she wanted to talk about. That shit ain’t shit. It’s business. And since I know you know that particular fact, there’s no way that text is what’s got your panties in a knot. What is it?”

“As if you don’t know.”

Reno was getting irritated. “Just tell me what it is, Tree. What is it?”

“I told you to call me if you couldn’t make it for dinner last night.”

“How am I gonna remember to call you when my hands are tied dealing with moron after moron all night long? There are thousands of people coming through that casino on a daily basis and nights are the worst. You know that.”

“You have Security to deal with those morons, Reno. And those pit bosses know what to do too. You own the whole thing, the largest casino in Vegas, but instead of sitting back and taking it easy, you act like you’re one of the employees. You don’t have to be so hands on.”

“Like hell I don’t!”

“Don’t even try that, Reno. Those other casino owners don’t do what you do.”

“And that’s why their casinos and hotels are going down the sewer with the rest of those shithole establishments up and down the Strip while mine keeps rising higher. I run thePaLargio and I don’t rely on anybody else to make sure this ship sails right. I sail this ship.”

“And your family be damned?”

Reno frowned. “What my family got to do with this?”

“You knew Dommi was in town last night and we couldn’t even get in touch with your ass for you to come upstairs and say hello to your own son.”

“I had my hands tied, Tree. How I’m gonna get away? What’s the big damn deal anyway about Dommi being in town? He comes to town all the time. Here he is a sheriff of a town and he’s in Vegas nearly every other weekend. He’s gonna mess around and get his ass fired.”

Trina was about to put mouthwash in her mouth. But she looked at Reno through the vanity mirror again. “You need to talk to him.”

“About what?”

“Life, Reno. Jimmy tried, but he needs his father.”

“Once again your ass exaggerating,” Reno said as Trina began gargling. “He knows where to find me.”

She spit in the sink. “We couldn’t find you last night,” she said, and turned her head toward him. “Your staff couldn’t either.”

But then, as she put on her shower cap, she looked down at Reno’s naked body and, as if by reflex, slightly lingered as she looked at his penis. Then she made her way to the shower. “Just call him,” she said as she got into the shower.

But Reno’s penis wasn’t about to see that ass switching in front of him, not to mention the way she gave him that assessing look, and then just leave the room. No way. He got in that shower right behind her.

When he flung her around to where her back was to his front and he forced her against the shower wall, Trina loved his forcefulness. And when he entered her and began poundingher again, she knew she couldn’t resist this man’s virility even if she wanted to. Which she didn’t. She was moaning almost immediately as he did her from the back.

But Trina was disappointed in herself too. Because she knew her cravings for Reno was enabling his bad behavior. Because she knew his big-ass head would start to believe that his big-ass dick, along with his outsized skill, could cure all their ills.

Although that morning, as she splayed her body against that wall and he did her as only Reno could, she wasn’t so certain that it couldn’t.

CHAPTER SIX

“I need you to have my back, Jimmy. If you tell Daddy it’s a good idea, then he’ll consider it because he respects you.”
