Logan cocked his head as if he were listening to someone, then said, “He should be okay for a little while because Ian gave him something to help him sleep. But we have to be back within three hours.”
“That shouldn’t be a problem. Here’s where we’re going,” Dylon said, giving Logan a map on which the castle’s location was circled. “Once we’re out of Edinburgh, you’ll be flying over an unpopulated area.”
“Do you have a place I can shift? I need a large open area to shift into a dragon.”
“I do,” Dylon grinned, pointing to the ceiling. “The rooftop. It has a huge flat area and Groose has secured the staircase leading up there.”
“Perfecto! I’ll get my mate and meet you there.”
After Logan left, Dylon found Cody. “Hey babe, will you stay with Dakota while I go for a dragon ride?”
“Of course, is Kieran going with you?”
“Yeah. How are Theo, Norman and Fionn doing?”
Chuckling, Cody said, “Miss L…uhh…your mother is with them binge watching some TV show Theo loves.”
Smiling, Dylon said, “What about Ian’s parents?”
Cody smirked, “They are telling Colton and Ian about the duties of the King of the Scottish Wolves. I’m going to ask Ian’s parents to take a picture of Ian and Colton wearing their crowns and sitting on their thrones.”
“And what do you plan to do with that picture?”
“Tease my brother, of course.”
“Of course,” Dylon said, chuckling. “I gotta go.” He pulled Cody into a tight hug and kissed him breathless before leaving.

Sitting on the back of a dragon, flying high over the Scottish countryside was an experience Dylon would never forget. He wondered what Jackson’s reaction would be when he learned of his twin’s gift. He could picture Jackson’s face watching Logan shapeshifting into a tiger or a dragon. Just then, Kieran touched Dylon’s hand and pointed to a castle below them. Realizing they’d arrived, he leaned down to Kieran’s ear and said, “Tell Logan to circle the castle…but be careful…and silent.”
Logan did exactly as Dylon requested, allowing him to study the castle and fill in the missing pieces they needed for their rescue of Slate. After seeing everything from the air, he had Logan land and shift in a clearing far away from the castle so they wouldn’t be detected by shifters guarding it.
Then Dylon asked Logan, “Did you see the shifters guarding it?”
“A few, how many are there?”
“I couldn’t tell. Shit, we could be walking into a trap. I have to know how many men we’re going to face,” Dylonsaid, staring in the direction of the castle. “Stay here, I’m gonna see if I can get close enough to get a count.”
Logan grabbed Dylon’s arm as he turned to go. “I have a better idea,” he said.
“What is it?”
“I can become a Hooded Crow, get closer than you can and be able to get a more accurate count,” Logan said.
“Perfect, go to it. I’ll protect Kieran.”
“Thanks. He can contact me if there’s a problem.” Logan then said, “Hooded Crow” and his body shrank until a black and grey bird emerged. Flying to Kieran’s shoulder, Logan pecked his mate’s cheek before flying off.
“Was that a kiss?” Dylon asked.
“Oui,” Kieran grinned.
Chuckling, Dylon said, “Before you and Logan claimed each other, I was so sure he was trying to take advantage of you, I was going to give you the talk…you know, the one fathers give sons about watching out for bigger dudes taking advantage of smaller ones…except Cody told me not to even think about doing it. Instead, I gave Logan the stink eye every time we were in the same room.”
“Why? By then you knew what I was.”
“I know. At first I had no idea why I felt that way, but looking back I think it was because my mother made a comment about Jessica dating and my ‘father’s talk’ took up permanent residency in my head. When I saw you standing next to Logan, all I could picture was Jessica going on her first date with someone much bigger than she. Oh fuck, I have no idea how I’m going to survive when my daughter starts to date.”
