I nod. "And vanilla."
Cora grins and shakes her head. "I don't know if I should be impressed or concerned with how much you know about me."
"Impressed, obviously." I wink at her. "But hey...can we talk about last night?"
"Oh God. What did I do? How embarrassing was it?"
"You mean other than the drool?" I attempt to lighten the mood even though my heart is pounding.
Cora wipes at her face. "Was it that bad?"
"You, uh...you mentioned something about Ricardo?" I eye her carefully.
"I did?" She takes a drink of her coffee without giving anything away. "That's the guy we met when picking Simon up, right?"
"Yeah," I confirm. "You never met him prior?"
She draws her bottom lip upward and rocks her head back and forth. "No. I don't think so. I mean, I think I'd remember him. He was kind of a creep."
"Cora, how much do you know about June and the guys and what they do for a living?"
Cora shrugs. "Enough to be aware that it's shady and illegal, but not enough to really build a case against them. Why?"
"Because if you think what they do is shady and illegal, then you have no idea the kind of shit Ricardo is into. He's not a good man by any means. He's dangerous. And if you're involved with him, I need to know."
"Involved? Are you insinuating that I'm into him or something? I'm not against dating an older man, but gross. Ricardo is repulsive. I mean from the short interaction I had with him, at least, you know?"
I narrow my gaze. "So, you're telling me nothing is going on between you two? And what you told me last night wasn't true?"
Cora drinks her coffee again. "I don't know what I said to you, Alec, but I can assure you, I'm not involved with him. Not now, not ever."
She's very convincing but I'm not entirely committed to believing her. The things she confessed were too bizarre to be a fabrication.
"Hey," Cora lowers her voice. "You don't have anything to worry about, not with him." She raises an eyebrow at me. "I might not remember us talking about him, but there is something I remember..."
My chest heaves at my confession of love I thought she wouldn't have any recollection of when she woke up this morning.
"You said..." Cora scoots more comfortably onto her butt. "If I asked you sober...you'd consider my drunken proposition."
How can she remember that but not the rest of the night?
"You're not serious."
Cora smirks and I swear to Christ it's the most adorable thing I've seen in my entire life. "Deadly," she confirms.
"But...but aren't you hungover?"
"Nope." Cora drinks some of her coffee. "Unless you're having a change of heart, then I totally understand."
I glance at my watch and then at her, my cock already throbbing in response to her being so forward.
"Have somewhere you need to be?" she asks me.
"Fuck it," I blurt out. "I'm probably already going to get fired over last night, what's one more reason to add to the list?"
"I'll have a word with your boss." Cora scoots to the edge of the bed and places her cup of coffee on the nightstand.
I rise to my feet next to her as she reaches for the waistband of my pants and unbuttons them, her blue eyes flicking through her lashes up at me.
