“For which I am eternally grateful. All complaining aside, Jamie would never forgive me if I let anything happen to the both of you, especially on your honeymoon.”

“Kilyusha get to you first.”

“Save me from bloody snipers.”

Alexei snorted. “Nyet.”

“What are our options?” Sean asked, steering the conversation back on track.

“You fly out tonight and come back when Bennett is no longer on the island, or you stay and risk becoming a target,” Oliver said.

“Or,” Liam stressed, tilting his glass in Alexei’s direction, “you help us with the mission.”

Sean rubbed a finger against his temple, not liking any option presented to them. “Help you how, exactly? We’re not active duty. The MDF hasn’t approved anything on their end. We’re on ourhoneymoon.”

Maybe if they said that enough, it would mean something to the world at large.

“I may have already had the brass on my side of the pond reach out to yours.”

Alexei flipped his steak knife in the air with practiced fingers, his gray eyes narrowed in annoyance. “Should ruin your suit with this.”

“You don’t have to say yes. You can leave and come back when the field is clear. But if you stay, you put yourselves at risk, which means you’ll need protection.”

“We can’t spare anyone to watch you,” Oliver added. “As it is, we’re short on the kind of manpower needed to mingle with the rich.”

Alexei snapped the fingers of his other hand, producing a burst of fire by way of his pyrokinesis. “Not need babysitter.”

“Bennett is the arsehole who betrayed you both. I don’t trust him not to come after you. Who knows what weapons he has on hand,” Liam said flatly.

Sean agreed with Liam’s assessment, he just wished none of this had happened during this trip. “You’d be making yourself as much of a target if you reveal your presence. You may not be remotely in line for the throne, but you’re still part of the royal family. Targeting you is too good of an opportunity to pass up.”

Liam smiled, but it didn’t reach his eyes. “I can handle myself, thank you very much. I’m not the one Bennett would like to see dead. You should ring the MDF and tell them what you want to do.”

Sean ground his teeth for a few seconds. “Can you give us a minute?”

Liam nodded and got to his feet, bringing his plate and wineglass with him as he left the room. Oliver followed after him but left his own plate behind. The door slid shut behind the pair, and Sean turned a little to face Alexei on the couch.

“It’s Bennett,” Sean said.

Alexei sighed and gulped down the rest of his wine. “On honeymoon.”

“We can’t get in the way of their mission. We either go, or we stay and help.”

“What you want to do?”

Sean opened his mouth but didn’t have an immediate answer. He chewed on his bottom lip, which made Alexei reach out with gentle fingers to pull it free of his teeth. Sean absently licked at his fingers, causing Alexei’s gray eyes to darken.

“You start something here, we finish in Liam’s bed,” Alexei said, running his fingertips across Sean’s lips.

Sean kissed them before reaching up to tug Alexei’s hand away. “We aren’t fucking in his bed. We have our own suite.”

“Not if we go.”

“Is that what you want?”

“Want Bennett dead.”

Sean knew walking away from this chance wasn’t something Alexei could do—wasn’t somethinghecould do. The timing was fucking terrible, but knowing Bennett was on the island and within reach made Sean want to stay. There was closure to be found in Bennett’s possible arrest, and Sean thought they needed it. That the team, scattered as they all were, needed it.
