He shook his head. “You know me just like I know you.”

“Do I? This is just too complicated. You and I bo—” I didn’t get to finish my sentence because his hand was already below my jawline and pulling me further into him.

“Fuck everything you were about to say. I want you and you want me. We go together real bad, shorty.” Then he leaned down and licked my lips, before mashing his lips against mine. Before I knew it his tongue was down my throat and we were seconds from going there. I caught myself and pulled back, leaving him to look at me like I was crazy.

Like the dominant he was he picked me up and put me on the counter. He stepped between my legs and began to zero in on my neck with his lips. “Let’s go.” He dragged his lips against my flesh.

“No, I gotta work. Did you just quote Young Miami?”

He stepped back and laughed at me. “Sure and the fuck did. She ‘ont know what she stumbled on when she said that dumb shit.”

I shook my head. “I just hope you mean what you said.”

“Don’t fuck around. You already had me at my brother’s place with the can't eat can’t sleep shit.”

“Awe, you couldn’t eat, baby?” My hands were on his face while he looked me in my eyes.

“Yup, while you had your ass out there in that nigga’s face.”

I shook my head. “Well, you my nigga now, so I’ll be in your face.”

“You say that, now keep those niggas out of ya space, or I’ll be playing behind the trigger on your behalf.” He was so serious that all I could do was nod my head. “Real fucking bad, ma.”

“I’m glad we have that understanding. Now do me a favor and put all your smoochies on standby, because just like you said real bad I’m on that as well.”

“Smoochies?” He looked confused.

“Hos, Namari. Don’t play with me. You know what I mean.”

He laughed. “I got you. Now let me get out of here before I find myself in here.” He winked with his vulgar ass.

When he stepped back, I hopped off the counter.

“You got any jobs this weekend?” he asked as we walked out of the back.

“No.”

“You’re spending the weekend riding dick, baby. I’ll feed you from time to time to keep you energized, but it’s up,” he said that low as fuck, before he kissed the side of my face and went about his day. I watched him walk out of the door before I could breathe again. Only then did I have enough oxygen in my body to ask myself what the fuck I had gotten myself into.

I got home a little later than my usual time, but I was more grateful than ever. My feet hurt and I was starving. Namari was bringing dinner, which we had agreed to via text after he showed up to Ommy’s earlier. After he left earlier I got in my head about us. It wasn’t because I didn’t trust him or anything like that, but because I didn’t trust myself. I liked him too much, and we hada connection out of this world but this was new for me. Shit, this was new for him too. I feared that this between him and I would end horribly, because not only were we too much alike but some changes brought out the worst in me.

A knock at my door interrupted my thoughts. I expected it to be him, but when I looked through the peephole I spotted Bobby standing in my view with her hands on her hips. Damn, I didn’t feel like dealing with her right now.

“I know you’re in there. I saw you walk in.” Bobby’s voice trespassed through the door hinges. Days like this made me hate that we lived in the same building.

“That doesn’t mean I wanted to be bothered, ho.” I swung the door open with a little bit of an attitude.

“Girl you love me. I mean I did introduce you to your future baby daddy.” She smiled like she had actually done me a solid when in reality her cousin was just another small minded nigga that liked to do things the easy way. I didn’t look down on him or anybody out here getting it how they lived, but at thirty-five still going back and forth to jail was crazy. At this point it was time to find a new nitch.

“Girl bye.” She followed me into my kitchen.

“What? I’m just saying, but what do y’all have planned tonight? When I was at my grandmother’s house he said he was making plans with you tonight.”

I shook my head because he called me after Namari left earlier. I didn’t answer because not only was I busy, but Namari had left me in my head. Who was I kidding, I was trying to step into this relationship with the right foot. I just hoped he was doing the same.

“Bae, why is your door open?” I heard Namari’s voice in my living room before my door closed.

“In here, my bad.” I looked from the doorway where I awaited his presence to Bobby who seemed too damn comfortable at my island. This bitch had to go.
