If just the thought of her made me come this hard, I could hardly wait to see what it would be like with her. That’s if I could get past those defenses she clearly had stacked sky high.
“Have you met your roommate yet?” Kyren asked out of the blue, his shadows releasing me to collapse on the bed as he reached for his book once more.
Still trying to bring my heart rate back down to normal, I swallowed and shook my head.
“You should probably see if they’ve arrived yet. Wouldn’t do to wait too long and not be able to change roommates.”
I rolled over and crawled up to lean over him. “Then I’ll just bunk with you.” I smacked a kiss on his lips before bouncing off the bed.
“You did that last year. Remember, you wanted the full human servant experience this time,” he commented, not looking up from his book this time.
I grimaced as I walked to the door. “Yeah, but that doesn’t mean I want a messy roommate or one that snores. You might not actually be the undead, but you sleep like it.”
Kyren’s lips twitched.
With a half wave to him, I made my way from the vampire crypt, as the academy so pleasantly liked to name the vampiredorms, and over to the attached building that housed the human servants.
The halls were bustling with students moving in or getting ready for classes tomorrow. Several waved or greeted me that knew me from last year. I nodded with a polite smile, ready to get to my room and see who the admin has stuck me with this time.
A familiar scent filled my nose as I approached my room. My eyes widened while it grew stronger with each step. I unlocked the room and pushed the door open.
Seeing it empty, I quickly stepped inside and inhaled. The lethal combination of dangerous and sweet hit me.
Why was Jack’s scent here? Had she come looking for me?
My heart skipped an excited beat. Then I frowned as my eyes locked on a familiar object.
I picked it up. Her helmet. If she only came looking at me, why would this be here? Then my gaze dropped to the bag of books on the bed. The same books I’d seen her walk out of the bookstore with less than an hour ago.
Holding the helmet, I turned to take in what else was new in the room when the door handle turned.
In stepped the woman of my and Kyren’s dreams. Hair wet, which made the thin white tank top she wore to stick to her like a second skin.
I inhaled sharply.
Jack’s eyes lifted from her phone to land on me and then her helmet. Her body froze, eyes narrowing.
Hands up, I lifted the helmet and made a show of setting it back on her desk. Because, without a doubt, it was her desk.
I didn’t know how it happened. Roommates were usually the same gender to lower the likelihood of them dating and needing to change a few months later. Whoever assigned Jack to myroom had made a mistake, a mistake that in no way had been reported by me.
“Are you stalking me now?” She crossed her arms over her chest, which only amplified the wet parts of her shirt and showcased the sports brow covering her generous chest.
Using all my willpower, I kept my eyes on her face and not the parts I wanted to bury my face between.
I chuckled and tugged on my lip ring. “Now, hold up, princess, before you go threatening to throat-punch me again, I wasn’t stalking you.”This time,I added to myself, but she didn’t need to know that bit.
Those pale brown eyes skimmed over me and then to my bed. She let out a resigned sigh before dropping her arms. “I suppose that means you’re my new roommate.”
“Looks like it.” Luna couldn’t have blessed me more than she had right this minute. I’d wanted a way to get closer to my princess, and now I had one.
“Well, I hope you don't snore.” She tossed her toiletry bag on the bed before going about unpacking a small backpack.
Curiosity got the better of me. “Is that all you brought?”
Shrugging a shoulder, she didn’t seem bothered. “I enrolled in a hurry. Wasn’t much time to bring much with me. I’ll just order anything extra I need online.”
I sat on the edge of my bed so she would have some semblance of space, though every neuron in me wanted to be pressed up against her delicious scent every second of the day. Holding that desire back, I tried to figure her out.
