My scepter crushed skulls and rib cages as I flew through the hoard, the golden artifact soon so bloody it slipped in my hands.
Hecate and the witches joined in, and the hoard’s attention was immediately divided, giving me a clear path to the angel that waited for me by the altar.
His own wings bloomed from his back, and suddenly, we were both airborne, clashing together beneath the beautiful domed ceiling that depicted the story of Genesis.
“I’ve been waiting for you.” He laughed as I swung at him.
He effortlessly evaded me and manifested long knives that made me pause.
The knives were humming with power and had strange symbols carved into them. I’d seen symbols like that only once before… on Lilith’s Aetherium dagger.
Fuck.
He had two weapons that had the power to unmake me. Everyone had thought those blades had been lost… but Raziel had them this whole time.
That was fine. I just needed to keep him busy long enough for Hecate to get to her golems, and then we could overpower himtogether.
Glancing down, I found that the witches had fought through his hoard of incubi at our feet. I kept one eye on them and one on Raz as Luna, Willow, and Hecate finally made it to the staircase hidden behind the statue.
The incubi swarmed after them, screaming those horrible screeches and clawing at the witches with pointed fingers. Soon, Raz and I were left alone in the church, and I sent Hecate a silent prayer before turning my fury back on my opponent.
“You’re looking awfully smug for someone that’s about to be unmade,” I spat, and the seraphim did nothing but smile.
“Come, child of Satan, unmake me,” he taunted me, and I launched myself at him.
My scepter connected soundly with his crossed blades, the deadly magic of our combined weapons vibrating up my arms.
I swooped away and flitted up behind him, swinging for his head. He deflected my attack with two of his wings, the other four keeping him airborne.
The seraphim’s eyes widened in surprise as my fortified scepter smashed through his defenses, and his wings cracked and broke beneath the force of my strike.
I smiled.
“Say hello to Ares.” I smirked, winding up to attack him again as his two broken wings fell limply at his side.
His eyes narrowed as he realized what we had done to his partner, and for the first time, he seemed angry.
“Demon scum. I will unmake you for daring to touch me. Then, when you are gone, I will continue my work with yourdisgustinglover. With you out of the way, he won’t have any distractions. We can purify him, and he will be all he was meant to be.”
Hearing him call Shem disgusting robbed me of all my control. I was so triggered that my vision blacked out, and I was suddenly throwing myself at him with such aggressive fury that I could barely predict my own movements, let alone his.
Slash, swipe, smash.
I was a blur of black and gold, coming at him so quickly he could donothing but defend.
My scepter crashed through another one of his wings, and I was showered in white feathers as he let out a satisfying bark of pain.
Fury that matched mine corrupted his features, and I grinned, winding back and aiming my next strike for his fucking head.
Suddenly, he vanished, and I had a split second of confusion before pain like I had never experienced exploded through my back.
It took me longer than I’d like to admit to realize what was happening.
By the time I registered his attack, I was watching one of my ink-black wings float to the ground.
He had fucking cut it off!
Horror and fear consumed me, and he took my moment of complete shock to hack off my other wing.
