Me: You’re quick.
Uriel: I know what I want.
Me: Oh? You want me now?
Uriel: … ?? You’re good.
Me: Am I?
Uriel: I think you know what you’re doing.
Me: My girlfriend is in town. Let me take her home and I’ll let you know if I can.
Uriel: Okay. If you’re free, is there anywhere you have in mind?
Me: Name the place and I’ll be there.
Uriel: Will do.
“Who was that?” Fale asked as she finished one of the drinks.
“Oh, my fr—”
“Don’t give me that friend ish. I saw the way you were looking at your Snarl, and that was not a friend,” Fale said as she put the bag on the floor.
“I always knew you were too smart for your own good,” I said. She smiled.
“I’m old enough to know what flirting looks like,” she said as she rolled her eyes.
I coughed as I put in the directions because, although I’ve been here a million times, my sense of direction is absolute shit. If I don’t put my home address into my phone, I just might take the wrong exit and end up near the coast. I may or may not have done that before.
“Mm, and what did yourfriendwant?” She asked.
“He wants to take me out to dinner,” I said.
“When?” she asked.
“Tonight,” I said.
“Then go,” she said.
“Uh, I don’t know about that,” I said.
“And… why not?” She asked.
“Because I have you,” I said.
“I’m not a child,” she huffed.
“I didn’t say you were. I figured we’d have dinner,” I said.
“I’m going to be here. We can get something for breakfast,” she said.
“Mm,” I said as I pulled out onto the road.
“Don’t worry about me. You should go out and have fun. My broth… sorry,” she trailed off.
“Don’t be. You don’t have to try and hide it. I already know he’s out there living his best life,” I said. She sighed.
