“You… you’re fucking him?” I shrug.
“Well—technically I think the kids call itdating—but to each their own.” Drew is not happy with this development and that actually brings me some joy.
“I just can’t believe this. After everything he did?” I need this guy to get the fuck out before he pisses me off and I lose my job.
“Wanna hear something else that you just won’t believe?” He raises a brow.
“I guess?”
“I come at least twice—every time. And guess what else?Handsfree. Every time.” Drew snatches up his phone and walks away. “Thank you for your patronage!”
I’m feeling pretty good about myself when my coworker Anne comes to stand next to me.
“Dude—I’m not sure what just went down—but that was so badass.” I grin at her.

At 7:59 I’m opening the door to Aaron’s truck.
“Please close the door and go back inside for eleven minutes. I have a bet Ireallywant to win.” Rolling my eyes I hop up, throwing my bag into the back, handing him a little brown bag with a brownie in it.
“So needy—must be the old age.” Aaron grabs the back of my neck and brings his mouth to mine—immediately forcing hisway in with his tongue. I groan against him, trying not to get too caught up since we’re literally on campus. Luckily Aaron pulls away first.
“Brat.” He says, pulling away from the student lot. “How was work?” I’ve been dying to tell him about Drew all day. When he looks over and sees me grinning, he smiles back at me. “Oh no—what did you do?”
“You’re gonna be so proud of me.” I turn in my seat to face him, pulling my seat belt to the other side of me so I can move.
“Yeah? Okay—let’s hear it.”
“Drew came in today.” His head whips to my side of the truck—eyes wide, then narrowed.
“What? I told him I’d kill him.” I laugh.
“Yeah, he looked around for you before speaking. But anyway—when I wouldn’t hold a conversation with him because—um—fuck you? He asked me if I would hear him out on one thing and then he’d never go to Brews again. Fair trade, I thought. Guess what his final dying request of me was?”
“Head?” I choke on my spit, shoving his shoulder.
“No, pervert. He said something along the lines of—I care about you, please don’t go near Aaron—he’s a psycho who threatened to kill me—wah wah, right?” Aaron’s laughing at my Drew imitation. “That’s when I realized he didn’t know yet. That we’re together.”
“Oh no.”
“Oh yes. I said—and this is the best part Aaron, I said—thanks so much, I’ll be sure to let him know when he’s fucking me tonight. Thanks, Soma.” Aaron turns to look at me again—eyes wide, mouth open in a shocked smile.
“You fucking didn’t.” I’m grinning, nodding.
“Oh yes, I did. And there’s more. He kept trying to talk—that liar. He said—I just can’t believe this—blah blah—and of course now I’m angry and the longer I look at him the sicker I get, so I went for the kill.”
“Oh fuck. Are you still employed?” This makes me shove him again.
“Anyway,I said—wanna hear something else you won’t believe? I come at least twice—every time. And guess what else? Handsfree. Every time.He fled the scene of the crime.”
“Baby—you committed a murder.” He’s grinning so hard, eyes flicking over to me every few seconds like he can’t stand watching the road for too long and not me. “I’mveryproud of you, Benjamin. Good boy.” I lean over the console and kiss his cheek.
“Hell yeah.”

The crowd in Cavetown is extra packed tonight, loud and sweaty. I feel the familiar nerves settle over me, the jitters in my body. Preshow anxiety. Damn—I wish I had a drink.
