“You know that can’t happen,” I hissed as tears fell. “Once established, omegas only reject betas from their pack if they have gone astray. I can’t fault you for being a medic, just as I can’t fault Luca for being a company owner. You know as much as I do that the reason why an omega tries to pick their pack soon after they are claimed was so they could all grow as a unit.”
“Why do you want me when you have Jaxom now? Are you going to gather Xavier too?”
“I’ve had my eyes on both Jaxom and you from the beginning,” I replied, my voice hitching at the end. “The both of you have traits and attributes that I want in a pack. Xavier is too over the top for my tastes. He keeps trying to buttheads against Luca, and I would rather not deal with that. The three of you--Luca, Jaxom, and you--seem to have the same wavelength when it comes to being kind and knowing what to do. On top of it all, I had thought you both were interested--”
