“I’m done playing games with you, Sophie.”

I went back to the changing rooms and pulled off the wet bikini, wringing it out and putting it in the locker. I pulled on sweats and a black t-shirt, not bothering with underwear because I knew – hoped – I’d be scratching the itch I’d had for two long.

Liam’s suite was separate from the rooms that we’d booked for the trip, in a different wing of the building. Everywhere was quiet. Seph’s voice wasn’t echoing down the hallways and there was no sound of Max and Victoria’s bickering. If this could go unnoticed I’d be grateful.

The door to the suite was unlocked as he’d said. I slipped inside and saw a large sitting room, the furniture angled to look out onto the lagoon. Across it you could see the building that had put me in this situation in the first place. I caught sight of how I looked in a huge mirror, hung on a wall over a simple sleek sideboard. My hair was damp and mussed, piled up in a messy bun. The T-shirt did nothing to disguise that my nipples were hard and the sweatpants clung a little too tightly to skin that was still damp. I never doubted how I looked; I’d always been a believer that what you felt inside would radiate out, but that mirror told me I looked nothing like the women Liam had been papped with in the past. They’d all been suitably cool and put together with purpose whereas I was rocking the real don’t-plan-to-give-a-shit look.

I saw Liam at the door to what I figured was the bedroom. Dark grey sweatpants hung low on his hips, the material thin meaning I could see the outline of what I’d felt before. His dark hair was damp, his undersigned stubble messy enough to make my beauty-therapist quiver.

This man pushed my boundaries.

Other lovers tended to be well-kempt. Manscaped. The sort that wouldn’t bat an eyelid about dropping a few hundred on a half day in one of my spas. The sort that wouldn’t stand up to me in an argument. The sort that I recreated my favourite porn scene in my head to get me over the finish line.

Liam wasn’t that sort.

“You came.”

“Not yet.”

He laughed, a dry course laugh. “I should probably be scared of you.” He took a step closer to me, his hands coming out to my waist where he grabbed the bottom of my T-shirt. “But I’m not. I’m too stupid to be scared of a little blonde thing like you.”

“The last thing I think you are is stupid.”

“That’s probably the nicest thing you’ve ever said to me.” He yanked the T-shirt over my head, leaving me naked from the waist up. “Your tits are amazing.”

“That’s the nicest thing you’ve ever said to me.” I let him look, feeling my nipples properly harden under his gaze.

Before it registered he was holding my waist, pulling me closer to his chest. My breasts rubbed against his chest and I caught the scent of him. I looked up into brown eyes and heard my breath hitch.

This wasn’t safe. Things were at risk here.

One of his hands pressed over my ass and then up and under the band of my sweats.

“No underwear. In a rush to get here?”

“I’d decided to break my celibacy.”

“With me?”

“You’re available.”

“So I’m just a warm body.”

“One with no complications.” I knew the words were a lie. I also knew my sweats were heading to the floor.

He bent his head and I reached up to meet him in a kiss that went from testing to devouring in a split second and the words between us stopped. I kicked my feet out of my sweats and walked him backwards into his bedroom, taking in nothing else apart from where the bed was and how to strip the sweatpants off Liam.

His hands cupped my breasts, pinching my nipples, pushing them together. Liam sat on the bed first and somehow we worked together so I straddled him, like I had in the pool, only this time there was no material in the way of him looking at me, or stopping me from watching one of his hands move straight down to between my legs, a finger running over my clit and in between towards my entrance.

“You’re wet. Tell me it’s for me and not just because you’re horny.”

I urged him to finger me, rocking my hips but he just moved his hand back a little.

“Tell me it’s for me. I don’t want to feel used.”

I laughed. Moved myself off his lap and onto his bed. I’d never been self-conscious; never seen the point. Shifting to the centre of the mattress I spread my legs apart, enough so that he could get a good view of what I was about to do.
