Yes, we are safe now. He will look after us.

I smile. “Yes. Get me out of here please,” I say barely above a whisper.

A damp smelling blanket is thrown over me before I’m enveloped in Lev's arms. His scent of cigars and aftershave hits my nose and I try to relax into that now familiar scent.

You are safe, we are safe.

“Yes,” I whisper before darkness takes me under where nobody can find me.

Chapter 31 - Lev

Aaronhasbeenpassedout in my bed for the last two hours. I can't get the image of his stepbrother standing over him out of my head. I’m not sure if we got there in time but it looked like the cunt was about rape him, and it takes everything I have not to go down to the pen right now and cut the fucker’s dick off with a blunt knife.

I keep my composure, though. I don't want to do anything with Jake and Tommy, who are thankfully secure in the holding pen right now. I always keep my promises. I want to see if Aaron still wants to be fully involved in their demise.

Shay is dead. We shot him on sight when he pulled a gun on us as we got into the basement. All things considered, it went smoothly. Simon stayed back to sort the clean-up, dispose of Shay’s body, and to clear the scene of any trace of activity. I know Aaron considered him a friend, but I question that word when he was fine to let Aaron be abused by that sick fuck.

A light knock on the door grabs my attention, and I walk over to see Dima standing on the other side.

“How is he?” he asks. Concern is etched on his face, which is a rare thing to see on D.

“Still asleep. Think it’s the shock.”

Aaron is completely out of it. Dark circles color the delicate skin under his eyes and steri strips cover where his brow piercing used to be. Seb kindly fixed him up when we got back, but Aaron remained asleep throughout the whole thing.

“Yeah, can't imagine. Listen, it's late, Lev. Just sleep. Those two fuckers aren’t going anywhere so it’s best to rest up before we start. Then, at least Aaron will be able to make a decision as to what he wants done once he’s awake,” he says and pats me on the shoulder.

I am dying to get down there, but he is right. I don't think Aaron will wake up anytime soon and I am emotionally exhausted from this. I agree and we say our goodnights. Moving to my bathroom, I wash up quickly. I don't want to leave him on his own. I have no idea how Aaron will react when he wakes up. He is unpredictable at the best of times, but this is something else.

As I make my way back into the bedroom, I see he is moving in the bed. Tossing and turning, quiet sniffles that make my chest hurt. I am so lost on how to help him.

“Aaron, it's ok. It's Lev, you are in my bed.” I try to reassure him in as soothing a tone as I can manage.

“Earbuds,” he whispers, and I have no idea what he is talking about.

“What earbuds?”

“Need my earbuds … my music.'' His sniffles are harsher as he tries to hold back the tears, his hands fumble with mild tremors, and then I remember, the bag that Kai brought back had earbuds in them when I searched it earlier. I retrieve the bag from the corner of the room and grab his earbuds and his phone. The shaking of his hands is painful to watch as he puts them in and rolls onto his side.

“Do you want me to go?” I ask, unsure how the fuck to deal with this.

He shakes his head, so I get into bed behind him, pulling his back towards my chest. I can see and hear his soft sobs. It kills me. I don’t know what music he is listening to, but this looks like a way of coping that he must have used before. After a few minutes, his breathing becomes slower, and I find myself drifting off alongside him.

When I wake up, I have no idea how long I have been asleep but the light of day filters through the windows. Moving my head to the side, I see those beautiful doe eyes watching me, his fingers slowly making their way up and down the center of my chest. I don't think anyone has touched me this gently before. I try to think of something to say that a normal person would, so I go for the standard.

“How are you feeling?” I ask.

Aaron continues to watch me, his eyes look dead, like there is nothing there.

He doesn’t break eye contact. “I want you to fuck me, Lev.”

His hands slowly peruse my torso in a firmer touch, which wakes my dick up, but I am not sure this is a good idea.

“Aaron, you have been traumatized, I don't–”

“Don’t tell me what the fuck to think and feel, Lev!” he shouts but doesn’t pull away.

A tear escapes his left eye, but his stare remains cold and lifeless. He is grasping for control and is determined to get what he thinks he needs.
