Asmos’s mouth dropped open as Bel shoved in two more handfuls. “I thought the popcorn was for you!”

“It is,” Atlas said with a shrug. “Whatever my mate wants is what I want.”

Asmos huffed. “He could have gotten it himself.”

“But you are our very bestest friend ever,” Atlas reminded him.

“I really am,” Asmos agreed. He turned. “This room seems rather dull.”

Bel nearly choked on the popcorn in outrage.

“Asmos,” Atlas said sweetly.

“Yes, friend?” Asmos responded.

“Go away. I need time with my mate,” Atlas told him.

“Fine. I promised Adam I would help plan the baby shower today anyway.” Asmos disappeared before Bel could swallow and bitch at him.

“They really do mean well,” Atlas said, leaning closer. He went to reach for the popcorn and Bel turned away.

It was his popcorn!

“Really?” Atlas snorted. “Not even a few bites?”

Bel shook his head. His popcorn. It was disgusting and buttery and all kinds of wrong. And all his. Then he felt bad and grabbed one very small handful, offering it to Atlas.

“Thank you, mate,” Atlas said, rolling his eyes.

Bel noticed he took the popcorn though. Maybe Bel should have asked for two bags.

Atlas

Never ever fucking ever was Adam getting permission to plan anything for them. Hadn’t Atlas learned his lesson the first time when Adam had planned the welcoming party? No, no Atlas hadn’t.

He’d agreed and promised Bel that it would be fine.

It was a baby shower. A damn baby shower! How was it this chaotic?

And why were there so many people there? People that Atlas was meeting and wanted to get to know better, sure, but Atlas couldn’t find his mate!

Every time that Atlas went in search of Bel, there was someone new congratulating him. Welcoming him. Being so friendly. It was great really except with the rooms so packed, there was no sign of where Bel had gone.

“Hi again!” a cute short and chubby older man he’d met earlier said as Atlas passed.

“Hey.” It took Atlas a minute to remember the man’s name. “Bryce, right?”

“Yes,” Bryce nodded. “Not to hold you up or anything but you look worried. Is there anything I can help you with?”

Atlas sighed. This was the alpha mate of the alpha dragon shifter. Wow, Atlas wanted to spend more time talking to Bryce but nothing was more important than his mate. “I can’t find Bel.”

“Oh!” Bryce frowned. “That’s not good.” He looked around as if he could spot Atlas’s missing mate. “There are a lot of people in here though.”

“Yeah.” Even though the house had adjusted to their needs and as massive as the ballroom was it overfilling with demons, shifters, humans, and all sorts of paranormals.

“Daddy!” Bryce grabbed the wrist of a tall dark-haired man dressed in leather that walked up. The alpha dragon. He’d been nice. His aura shone brighter than anyone else’s Atlas had seen. It was more than a little intimidating. “Can you scent Bel for us?”
