“I am?” This is surprising.
“When you left, I missed you desperately,” he says as my damn heart beats uncontrollably. “Please be patient with me, I’ve never dated a guy before.”
“We’re dating?” I ask.
“I don’t know. Whatever this is, I’ve never done it before with anyone.”
“You’ve never dated a man?” I ask. He shakes his head. “How many men have you been with?”
Chance bites his bottom lip. “You were the third.” My eyes widen in surprise. “Please don’t be weird about it.”
“How many women have you been with?” I ask.
Chance pushes away from me. “A lot.”
“Obviously more than three?” I push. He gives me a sassy look. “Do you prefer women to men?”
“I don’t know, maybe,” he answers honestly. “That would have been my answer before you.” Oh. “But I like you.”
“It’s the person, not the appendage then?”
Chance shrugs. “Would you be offended if I agreed with that?”
I shake my head. “No. You like who you like.”
He reaches out and wraps his hand around my neck. “I like you, Derrick, a lot, but …”
“You can’t be seen in public with me,” I answer for him.
He nods. “Do you hate me?”
I shake my head. “I can’t hate you for being honest with me.”
“I understand if you don’t want us to fool around anymore,” Chance says.
“I never said that.” I smirk, which makes him laugh. I’m just going to have to protect my heart because I cannot fall for this boy.
We arrive back downstairs after an amazing couple of hours driving around Paris. We stopped for some pastries and some macarons before heading back. As we come around the corner, we bust Blake and Charlotte making out.
“Oh no. Evan is not going to like that,” I tell Chance.
“Blake has a huge crush on her, and I guess she might like him too.”
“The boy is hot, of course she would,” I tease Chance.
“I’m lucky Blake doesn’t swing that way, otherwise, I’d have no chance with you.” He grins.
“I’m very persuasive,” I joke as he looks jealous.
“You’re mine,” he declares.
“Am I now?”
“You know what I mean,” Chance says, blushing.
“You are adorable when you blush,” I say, placing a kiss on his nose. “We both know whatever is going on between us isn’t monogamous, you like women, I like men.”
“And I’m in the closet,” he adds. That too. “I do want to continue hanging out.”
