“I guess we could expand into Australia,” Evan suggests.

“I know Stacey would love to live closer to her family in Australia,” Oscar points out.

“Your mom would miss you, son,” Oscar’s dad tells him.

“You could always come with us,” Oscar tells him.

“I’m not sure about those killer sharks and octopuses Evan was talking about earlier.” His dad laughs.

“You didn’t die when you were there a couple of years ago,” Oscar reminds him.

“True. But I don’t want to tempt fate,” his dad argues back with a grin.

“Sounds like big changes are happening for Dirty Texas again. We’d all miss ya,” Zander, the tattoo artist from The California Bros., adds.

“Kids change everything. You’re a family man now, Finn. You have to do what’s best for your family,” Finn’s dad says, clapping him on the shoulder.

“Well, how about I start by buying this house? And then we can work out the rest.” Finn smirks.

DERRICK

We got back from our adventure day and side quest of purchasing a home for Isla and Finn. I had a shower, freshened up, and headed straight over to Charlie’s villa. I think we needed to talk. I’m shitting myself as I walk toward his villa, my heart is thumping in my chest. I knock on the door, and Everly answers it, her eyes widen when she sees it’s me.

“Um, you know what, I’m just going to go, you go right in.” She smirks, grabbing her phone off the entry table and disappearing out of the villa. This is giving me pause. What the hell am I stepping into?

“Everly, who’s at the …” Charlie stills as he walks into the living room. “Derrick?”

“Hey,” I say, giving him an awkward wave. “Your sister had to leave,” I tell him.

“Bet she did,” he grumbles. “What do you want?”

Okay, we are back to the moody grump again. At least I now understand why. “You’re just a ray of sunshine today, aren’t you?” I slam the villa door behind me. “I nearly died today …”

Charlie’s eyes widen at my comment, and as soon as the words left my mouth, I realized what I said. He literally nearlydied in combat, he lost a leg for fuck’s sake. Urgh. I’m an idiot. I’m about to tell him to forget I ever said anything or ever turned up. I keep putting my foot in it with this man, he makes me so nervous to be around, not because he’s scary or moody, but because I like him. It feels like forever since I liked someone, and the fact that this man is a handful makes me want him even more. Plus, he is hot, and huge, and I honestly want to see how big his dick is because the man is thick, so I can just imagine he is sporting a monster in his pants.

“Want a beer?” he asks, pulling me from my wayward thoughts. The question is so unexpected that I just nod. He walks into the kitchen and pulls two beers out of the fridge. When his back is turned, my eyes look down at his legs to see if I can spot his prosthetic, but I can’t. There’s a slight limp, but I assumed he was like Jackson with scars on his legs. I can’t believe I never noticed Jackson’s scars before. Huh. Things you learn about your friends. Charlie walks back out and hands me the beer, our fingers touching. Damn, there’s that electricity again, which makes him frown as he feels the zap, before pulling his hand away. “Sit,” he commands, pointing at the sofa. And I do as he takes the opposite one from me. Okay. Guess we are still being weird about everything. “What happened today?” he asks, cracking open his beer and taking a large gulp. I watch in slow motion as his Adam’s apple bobbles as he swallows. And now I am imagining his mouth around my cock again, which makes said cock twitch, and I have to strategically move my dick around, so it doesn’t look so suspicious.

I then launch into a ramble about everything that happened today, from the boat ride to the ATVs, to the zipline, to Finn randomly buying a house. I didn’t mention that Jackson and I had a wonderful one-on-one conversation after said death ride.

Charlie huffs. “Sounds like a great day.”

“Of course, Mr. Action Man would love shit like this, you’ve probably done worse than that, but I’m made for couture and glam.” I sip my drink.

“Recruit school was vicious, you should get Jackson to tell you about those days.” He chuckles.

“Bet you and Jackson got up to so much shit,” I say, loving that he’s letting me in to get a sneak peek of who he is.

“We got up to so much shit, the prank wars between our platoons were famous. Luckily, we never got court-martialed for some of the pranks we did.” He smiles before a dark cloud falls across his face, and his entire demeanor changes. The shutters have come down, and he’s shut himself off again. At least I was able to get a tiny glimpse inside the man.

“Was he kinky back then?” The random question pulls Charlie out of the dark cloud, and those intense eyes narrow on me.

“How do you know about his sex life?”

I chuckle. “I know all about what my friends have gotten up to, they are all freaks. We’re close. Plus, I can sniff out gossip like a bloodhound.”
