“If Chad can put up with you, you can put up with Merchant. You’re all adults and you should be able to act like it.”

While Chad was annoyed by Peter’s dismissive attitude, it gave him a delicious thrill to see him putting Aiden down so thoroughly. Aiden was red in the face, his jaw clenched, but Peter wasn’t even looking at him. His attention was back on his phone.

“I’m going to go get my stuff,” Chad said, pushing his chair back and standing up. As he did so, he couldn’t help but wince as a stab of pain shot up from his ass. Peter had been anything but gentle with him the night before, and his hole was still tender and sore.

“Fun night?” Aiden asked, his tone snide. Peter gave him a sharp look, but Chad just smiled.

“Awesome,” he said, reaching down and grabbing his plate. He looked Aiden right in the eye. “You should see the video.”

Aiden’s eyes narrowed, but Peter laughed.

“Please don’t show it to him,” Peter said, as though there were a chance in hell that Chad would. “That’s for my eyes only.”

“I won’t,” Chad promised, putting his plate in the sink. Aiden made him feel weak and small in the worst way, but his sex life with Peter was not something he was embarrassed about. There was no way in hell he was going to let Aiden use it against him.

“All right, I need to head out,” Peter said, standing up and walking over to Chad. He grabbed him by the neck and pulled him in for a kiss, backing him into the counter as he took his time exploring his mouth. When he pulled back he was grinning and Chad was breathless. “See you tonight,” he said, his voice dark and heated. Chad licked his lip, ducking his head and nodding.

“Have a good day at work,” he said, his voice coming out a little rough.

Peter smiled at him and kissed him again, saying goodbye to Aiden before leaving the room.

“He likes doing that,” Aiden mused, looking at the door Peter had just exited.

“What?” Chad didn’t know what he was talking about.

“Marking his territory,” Aiden said.

Chad shrugged, not quite sure what to make of Aiden’s observation. He liked the way Peter kissed him, the possessive aspects of Peter’s behavior something he just took for granted.

“Are you ready to go?” he asked, changing the subject. Aiden nodded, checking his watch and standing up.

“Whenever you are.”

“Great. Let me just get my stuff and we can head out.”

He went and got his bag, meeting Aiden at the door. The alpha was wearing a leather blazer over his suit jacket, the shiny material pulled tight over his wide shoulders. Chad took a second to think about how weird it was that he wasn’t even remotely attracted to Aiden, even physically—even the thought of getting intimate with him sending a nasty chill down his spine.

Aiden was a good looking, with the same rugged features and muscular build as Peter, but his personality seemed to seep through his skin and make him ugly.

The jacket was nice, though. It was something that Peter would like, and Chad decided that when it came time for his mate’s birthday he would find him something similar.

“After you,” Aiden said, opening the door and gesturing for Chad to walk through it. Chad shrugged on his coat and threw his bag over his shoulder, keeping as much distance between him and Aiden as possible when walking out the door.

He wasn’t looking forward to spending a whole day with Aiden, but if the alpha managed to behave himself reasonably well he supposed he could get through it.
