I freeze under his heated gaze. He makes chivalry look sexy as hell. Licking his lips, he pushes his hard body against mine. I focus on his mouth, aching for him to devour me.
“I guess I’m in a hurry to get to the fair.” Mywords are nothing more than a breathless whisper.
Inching closer to my mouth, his breath caresses my lips as he speaks. “I want you to understand. You’re my girl and I’ll take care of you.”
He’s so close, and my body begins to tremble. Gabe’s all man, chivalrous with dominance and power lurking just beneath the surface. I don’t think I could handle it with anyone else, but with him, I let it cocoon me.
“I understand.” Lifting up on my tip toes, I kiss him gently, earning a delicious groan from his throat. Stepping aside, I smile sweetly, waving my hand towards the doorknob.
He shakes his head, amusement in his eyes, opening the door. As I walk inside, I yelp in surprise when he smacks me on the ass.
“That’s your punishment for being a cute, little smartass.”
Rolling my eyes, I hurry into my bedroom. Deciding on blue jean shorts and a red, off the shoulder blouse, I slide on my favorite sandals. Heading into the bathroom, I touch up my make-up and throw my hair into a ponytail.
When I reach the living room, Gabe’s gazing out of the window with his hands in his pockets. After taking a moment to admire him, I clear my throat. “I’m ready.”
Spinning around, his eyes widen, appraising my body thoroughly. “Damn. You look amazing in everything.”
Blushing at his compliment, he strides towards me, snaking his arms around my waist. Kissing me soundly, he groans as I lick his lips, asking for entry. He opens immediately, his tongue licking mine with lazy strokes.
I wish we could stay like this, but we have a date and I’m genuinely excited about experiencing this with him. I grip his hand, pulling him to the door. “Come on, I want to ride the Ferris wheel!”
Chuckling behind me, he locks the door as I hurry outside. He helps me in the truck and we’re on the road in no time.
Turning on the radio, he’s surprised when I immediately find the rock station. I crank up the volume, belting out the words to an old classic. Glancing at him, his fingers tap the steering wheel while I murder the lyrics to one of my favorite songs. He grins, and squints a few times when I sing off key, but he joins me during the chorus.
This feels good, letting go and having fun. It’s been a long time. Gabe joining me in the high only makes it sweeter.
We sing along with the radio the entire drive and before I know it, we’re pulling into the fairgrounds. Opening my door, he takes my hand, and we head into the open field. He purchases our tickets as I take everything in.
It’s beautiful. The sun is setting, pink and orange light streaking the sky. People are smiling, hurrying to their favorite rides. The smell of funnel cakes and corn dogs fill the air. Lookingaround, I’m overwhelmed with eagerness to ride everything.
The Scrambler is to my right while the Carousel is to my left. My favorite, the Ferris wheel, is just a few hundred feet in front of me, begging for my ass in a seat.
“What do you want to ride first, baby? You’re about to explode if I don’t get you on something.” He grins as I look around trying to decide.
“I want to save the Ferris wheel for last. It’s my favorite, but I want to ride the Flying Scooters first.” Pulling him behind me, we get in line for the ride. Surprisingly short, there are only a few people ahead of us.
As we wait, the sky darkens, and he pulls me close. “Look. All the lights are coming on.”
The beautiful atmosphere and the gorgeous man holding me is all I need in this moment. I feel like a teenager again. This is what I’ve been missing for so long. I never had this with my ex, even when we were dating.
The ride stops and the worker opens the gate to let us in. We cram ourselves into one of the scooters and I can’t help but smile. Gabe slides his arm around my shoulders, and I lean into him.
“I should warn you. I love all rides, but I’m a screamer. Don’t be concerned.” I tell him, patting his thigh.
He leans close, his lips pressing against my ear. “I like it when you scream.”
My breath hitches and heat floods my body. Heleans back, winking with a sly grin.
The ride begins slowly, and my heart is beating wildly. Before I know it, we’re in the sky, flying in circles. Screams burst from my throat and pure exhilaration fills me. Gabe laughs heartedly, his arm squeezing around me. I may be twenty-eight, but this is fucking awesome.
It’s the little things in life, right?
We fly through the air for a few minutes, the screams finally dying in my throat. The ride slows and after another minute, it comes to a stop. Getting out of the scooter, we walk down the metal ramp, exiting the gate.
Gripping my wrist, he twirls me around, wrapping his arms around me. Crashing his lips to mine, he kisses me like we’re the only two people here. Moaning against his mouth, I dig my nails into his biceps, holding on for a different kind of ride.
